Jason and the Argonauts was and is a great favorite of mine that I used to watch at least once a year. And Ray Harryhausen was a legend who brought so many creatures to life so very convincingly. I’m glad to see that Lio appreciates him and his creations. Well done, Mr Tatulli.
After having seen King Kong (1933) for the first of many times on its initial release, Harryhausen spent his early years experimenting in the production of animated shorts, inspired by the burgeoning science fiction literary genre of the period. The scenes utilising stop-motion animation (more accurately called model animation), those featuring creatures on the island or Kong, were the work of pioneer model animator Willis O’Brien. so let’s thank Mr. O’Brien for inspiring Ray!
Also, no 6 tentacled Octopus (not Ray’s fault, budget constraints), Beast from 20,000 Fathoms or Mighty Joe Young.Ray was amazing and his work always remarkable.Would rather see stop-action animation (Corpse Bride, Wallace & Gromit, etc.) than CGI any day.
Ray Harryhausen was my dear friend for more than 40 years. I was able to pay him back, ever so slightly, for the untold hours of enjoyment he and his films gave me as a youth by successfully campaigning to get him a Lifetime Achievement Oscar in 1992 and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003. If it had not been for Ray Harryhausen and another Ray named Bradbury, I am confident my life and the lives of countless others would have been much less fun.
If a print of your “Lio” tribute to Ray is available for purchase, I would love to have one.

Myself, I missed the monster(s) from Flesh Gordon. Ray did the animation but asked that his name not be used in the credits.
