Perhaps our dear George Jones….-“The Grand Tour” , a great storytelling song…. “He Stopped Loving Her Today”… That will be a little sadder song, now… Like he said in the chorus of Barbara Mandrel’s song: “I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool”…

I was at the Ryman in 2001 and stood at the back rail and couldn’t go any further for I felt I wasn’t worthy enough.

Even if you don’t like country music, the Grand Ole Opry is a great show!

“Why is George Jones not mentioned in this strip?”^George Jones was known as “The Voice of Country”, which is what Guy was referring to to in the top right of the last panel.

    Thanks, Guy. Lovely tribute.

@AshburnStadiumSeems like no matter where my dad and I were, anywhere in the southeast, we could always pick up WSM on the car radio on skip. Sometimes it was pretty staticky, but we’d never miss a show from the Grand Ole Opry.

I don’t mean to sound rude or anything but in Saturday’s Comic, Nancy had her hair cut really short and today, it’s back to normal.

There are many great artist who got their start at The Grand Ole Opry, and sadly, they are no longer with us, Such great voices, with the most recent being George Jones, It’s hard to believe he was 81, because I still picture him from when I was a youngster growing up, and now I am much older, and so are the great artist of The Grand Ole Opry. It’s hard to picture them being old. And the ones that are still with us, I wish them a long and healthy life. Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Jim Ed Brown, Charley Pride, Willie Nelson, just to name a few. They may not have all gotten discovered at The Grand Ole Opry, but I believe these artists all performed there.

In the irony of comic strips, Nancy was born before George Jones.

So sad, still… but I get comfort in the Bible, to be able to see dear loved ones again… (Psalm 37:29; Acts 24:15)
