On election night, 1980, when it became obvious that RR was going to win, I commented to friends that we were witnessing the beginning of the end of our country as we knew it.Sadly, I was correct. Through Reagan and 2 Bushes our country has been in the hands of an evil group of men like Cheney and Wolfowitz (Reagan’s “Kitchen Cabinet”). Men smart enough to know that they would not be electable, and greedy enough to turn the US of A into a 3rd world nation of Big Haves and a multitude of Have Not’s.Reagan was nothing more than a figurehead; Bush the Lesser as well (tho’ GHW Bush was shrewd enough to actually be a part of the conspiracy).This arm of the GOP has ravaged the Middle Class and brought America to the brink of financial ruin more than once, while cleaning up, financially, on the ruins.But they promote God and guns, trash gays and immigrants and pull in the votes of people clearly voting against their own interests.
This is wildly incorrect. Reagan was head of the Screen Actor’s Guild in the 1940s and was known to go after communists in Hollywood. In the 1950s he was spokesman for GE after his career faded. It was during the 1950s that he moved towards the Republican Party over taxation.

More importantly, you have helped prove my point. There are many things liberals and conservatives can agree on. We are not mutually exclusive. We may disagree on the extent of the problem, the importance, or the methods of remediation, but we are not always polar opposites, as many Americans seem to believe.
If you want to know who is REALLY trying to destroy America, look to the people who are turning us against each other to distract us from what they’re doing.
A very reasonable post. The early Christian Church, or I should say the very early Christian church, (the book of Acts church in fact) had as its economic policy a policy closer to the pure idealism of pure communism than anything has ever had in human history (and the USSR versions was only window dressing Communism by comparison, and was actually just another dictatorship such as NAZI Germany was). The pure idealistic Communist creed of’ “From each according to his ability, and to each according to his need.” has never been an actual working policy more anywhere than in that early church!
But what made that a “happy” time was simply that particular version of “Community Communism” was controlled by men that had actually walked with and still followed the Lord Jesus Christ very closely! That is the ONLY way that such an idealistic form of human activity will ever work. And, by the way, was a long time before the “official” Christian church even existed. True idealistic Communism ignores human nature totally, and therefore will never work while controlled by human beings, It is simple, if I work twice as hard as my neighbor, then I want twice as much of the materialist “goodies” that life has to offer us, regardless of his particular needs. This is not actually an evil in itself, but can very easily lead to one of the worst of human sins, in GREED. And unfortunately it would seem that such is the current mantra of a large part of humility, especially here in this country. It is that particular moral breakdown that is destroying the health of the people of the US, not our sexual immorality (that is a symptom, not a cause).I really wish in compassion and love that more Christians (and especially American Christians) understood that!!!
