Barack Obama: "[Guantanamo] is contrary to who we are. It is contrary to our interests and it needs to stop." Prisoner: Still gives a great speech, don't he?
This would be over if the cowardly Republicans allowed the detainees to be charged and tried in the US. And if they can’t be charged but are still deemed a threat, they can be sent to New Jersey where the Attorney General has the power to indefinitely detain someone that is perceived as a threat even if they have not committed a crime. Happened to someone I know.
Chillbilly: Why do the warmongers keep bringing up Bengazi in any old context. Did they really expect that city to join Hiroshima and Nagasaki before all the facts were in? They are in now. If the “capital” of the revolution should be destroyed, why not New York City, Oklahoma City, or Boston? Do you know any response other than mass murder?
The President does not have exclusive power to do much of anything. And if he did, boy would you same people be howling. He needs either the Supreme Court or Congress as an ally. That’s all the ‘splainin’ anyone needs.
He is right to want to close Gitmo. It’s just another in a long list of failures of Congress to do ANYTHING.
To the Obama apologists – Obama is the one who signed detention without trial into law (a classic sign of a Police State). Obama is the one who approved the use of drones against US citizens.

Sadly, most Americans couldn’t see through the slick campaign garbage(or promises).
