I think a lot of moms feel the same way Elly does. When your entire day is filled with small children and housework, you sometimes feel overwhelmed. Having an adult like Anne to talk to can help. Once you get back out into the world, even part time, you realize that you haven’t reverted to childhood after all.
I appreciate my kids all the more for being away from them part of the week. Some of us were not intended to be stay at home moms. I become depressed whenever I have more than two months at home without work or school, and that was true before I had kids as well.
Everybody (male and female) needs something that keeps them in touch with their own self. My husband likes going out to lunch while at work, and while I always brought my lunch, I don’t begrudge him his social time. He also likes going out with his friends after work to blow off some steam. I like my time with my friends too, and he accepts that as well. It has nothing to do with me (or him) not wanting to be with our kids or each other. We just need time with others who can understand us in other ways sometimes.
Oh, poor, poor Elly . . . my heart is absolutely BLEEDING for her right now. What a complete DRUDGERY — not to mention pain in the rear end — it must be having to stay home from a part-time job at the library where she’s “low man on the totem pole” and be forced pretty much against her will to take care of a sick child that she so willingly brought into the world approximately 3 short years ago (whether she was planned or not). I just feel so SORRY for her!!!!!
