The first things I put into every new personal planner are birthdays, and a warning on the previous week to make sure a card goes out in time. None of this e-card stuff: a store-bought or homemade card (depending on the closeness of the relationship) and each gets a personalized paragraph of what that person means to me. Some people get gifts, others get gift cards.
