I don’t think Childhood diabetes is funny either. That’s not what the cartoon is about. There is an expression, ’Like a kid in a candy store" (-to be very happy and excited about the things around you) that I was playing off of to get to the gag.
I have type 1 diabetes (the kind that used to be called “juvenile diabetes”). Not all diabetics die young. Even if we did, not being able to laugh would make it a lot worse.
Anyone who knows a diabetic child and sees the struggles they have will not think this funny only sad. Millions do not understand this horrible disease and its terrible consequences.
