D III has a meaningful playoff. Amazing how all the difficulties just melt away when millions of dollars of bowl money aren’t involved. Speaking of D III football and championships, Larry Kehres has just announced his retirement. Forget all the other numbers, the one that I find most amazing is 24 losses in 27 seasons. Mostly in the playoffs. An amazing run unlikely to ever be equaled.
I always wondered why DIII could have playoffs, but DI could not. Then I discovered just how much money the NCAA and the bowls were making off the backs of the college players. What I would love to see is a streike by every single bowl team, announced about 5 min before kickoff. Tell all the money boys, we want to be paid. No pay, no play. Does anyone think the NCAA would cave?
