The tin cans were better, even in the dirt. They made some awesome tracks. Use to make my Mother mad for scuffing up my shoes, decided to use my old Red Ball tennis shoes. . They hurt, but it was fun . .Oh, for those Summer days of long ago . .
An even better find was a discarded unopened, full can of beer or soda. Back in the early “pop top” days those rings would occasionally break off leaving the can useless unless you had an opener. Living near the local high school increased our chances because we found them frequently.
On a hot day we’d see how high and how many times we could toss the can and let it crash to the ground before it would finally develop a hole and start gushing like a geyser.

I would’ve been thinking of the deposit. My brother and I used to go around looking for cans to turn in for the deposit so we could get candy.
