When last this happened to me (admittedly, the car was 17 years old), I got a new car….

George just open the hood and verify that the engine is still there, if it is push the reset button.
Just put a piece of tape over it and it won’t bother you any more.

Keep that ole Plymouth Savoy running and in tip-top shape.
Engine light came on in my Honda twice and I had it fixed the first time there was something wrong. Car was 10 years old so I traded it in the 2nd time light came on.
