TJ isn’t a shyster anymore. If TJ agrees to pay for all the necessary parts. Then this could be a good investment for Brad. However, I’d want that partnership agreement in writing and notarized! ;-)

Well, Brad, consider some work on TJ’s truck to be part giving back to TJ for all the years of gourmet cooking he’s done for you.

Brad should make it clear that his 50% investment in this venture would be the labor in getting the truck repaired.

Judging by the huge oil spill under the front in yesterday’s last panel, perhaps a more appropriate name would be Cafe Valdiz.^And then the food would be “oily’ and ’greasy”…

Some thought that TJ would be doing it aaaalll his own…. but to “paraphrase” a line from the song “Godzilla”…“History shows again and again how the strip points out the folly of TJ, man……”-Or you could use “Cars” songs, like… “Moving in Stereo”, “Dangerous Type”, or from their lesser known demos: “They Won’t See You”, "Wake Me Up’….

I agree on spending @ 5,000 (approximately) on a better vehicle. Take that money you’re going tospend on repairs and put it in a better vehicle. Will be cheaper in the long run.But thats only the engine. You got a whole lot moreto spend on the inside. It’s a restaurant: portableyes, but still a restaurant. Equipment, steam andcold tables,. plumbing, drains, appliances, grills,.fryers, ovens….mmm mmmmmmmh. W-o-r-k magnified. I wish TJ wouldstart something easier. This is hard. Even for T.J.

Brad, that “Half a Stake” Old Smiley talkin’ about is gonna End up being DRIVEN Right through YOUR Heart, if You aren’t Careful. So KEEP Moving if You Know whats GOOD for You.

I KNEW it. Once again, the Parasite has this “Great” idea that just need “little input” from his Favorite HOST, Brad.

Brad, Remember this as You stumble through life: A TRULY Great Idea is SELF SUSTAINING. So don’t let Politicians and Con Artists FOOL You.

And as for YOU Smiley, why don’t YOU take some of that STASH Money Your Old Man left You and BUY a NEW Engine and Tranny for Your Heap? Heck, Why don’t You just BUY a NEW Truck?

Then DRIVE Off the I-5 Bridge….,

If TJ needs Brad to work on that thing just to get the engine working again after being junked for several years; How did he manage to drive it home in the first place?

Question: Has Brad ever managed to refuse to participate in one of TJ’s schemes? If memory serves, he always says no at the beginning, but TJ always manages to talk him into it. Has there ever been an exception to this?

Brad had better be doubly wary. He needs to consult Toni. There are at least two reasons for this:• 1: Two heads are better than one, and Toni is no fool. She is one smart cookie, plus she knows all about automobile mechanics. She can give some excellent counsel and advice.• 2: Now that he is engaged to Toni, his time and resources are no longer strictly his own. Toni will have something to say about this. If he commits without getting her input, it is not likely to go well, especially when you consider that Toni is very afraid of losing control of her life again.

A whole steak & lobster wouldn’t change your mind?*Brad, are you telling us you already have a full plate?*I can see TJ catering the big wedding, cake in the truck, and it won’t start. Toni diagnoses it as the fly wheel deep inside, and no one can change it but her. She she gets her beautiful, lacy dress all greasy— and Bern says “I know how you feel.”

“If TJ is willing to give up a percentage of his business in exchange for getting the van in good enough shape to be a serviceable catering truck, then he might be better off making the proposal to Toni. I think she might be a better mechanic than Brad.”

You know, I think you’re right.

But I suspect Brad will pitch in, half interest or not. He and TJ have been hanging out for a long time.

We don’t know Brad’s resources. Can’t be much – if Brad can’t afford a ring. TJ’s trust fund must be just enough to live.

I used a ‘72 step van similar to TJ’s for many years until about 5 years ago, out grew, for bread distribution. They are not hard to work on and are hard to kill. 4 speed Standard transmission, in-line 6, single barrel carb., but bad gas mileage 8-10 mpg.

I dought that TJ would have paid more than $1200 for a non-working truck like this.
