about 20 years or so there was a comic book series called “Bone”. the main character loved the book, “Moby Dick”. the only problem was, whenever he read the book to someone, they would invariably fall asleep by the time he got to “Ishmael”.

Bucky can start the book with “Call me Ishkabibble” (who was a character on an old radio or TV show – I don’t remember which, but I always remembered the name).

The Captain’s name could be AROB and the Indian’s name could be Squeak-Squeak. And instead of a harpoon, they could hit Moby Duck with a giant balloon! And Captain AROB could get tangled in the balloon string and fly away into the sky. Now that I’ve given Bucky the outline, I hope he gives me co-author’s credit on the book jacket!

Getting back to the strip. I never noticed how misaligned Bucky’s lower jaw was till I saw it on panel one today. Wow so is Satchel’s in the last panel. Some things are just missed till you catch it on days you least expect to see it.

There is already a book by Donovan Hohn called Moby Duck: The True Story of 28,800 Bath Toys Lost at Sea and of the Beachcombers, Oceanographers, Environmentalists, and Fools, Including the Author,Who Went in Search of Them. Appearances to the contrary, Bucky has long been the voice of reason among that threesome. It’s about time that ol’ Rob finally admits that he can be wrong about something and help Buck out in this dilemma, instead of just dismissing everything he says out of hand.
