For years I’ve heard repairmen disparage the people who designed something, claiming they made it almost impossible to repair, if at all, and they suspect they knew it……Now I know why…..

If the engineer isn’t the CEO, though, we need to insist on MAX 30:1. Extractors to makers at 300:1 or more is just obscene.

Don’t think the app is the main issue, but making the actual beam.

I think the founder of the company has to bring something to the table. Otherwise Jeff can just create the company, create the app, and keep the money.

Jeff just needs to create the app without her knowing and sell it himself.

For a transporter to work it has to destroy the original after assembling the remote copy. Not for me.

Jeff invented a time machine but can’t make a transporter? Perhaps he could travel to the future, pilfer plans for the existing tech, come back and become the “inventor” of the transporter app.

Been true since the days Edison was patenting his workers’ inventions under his name.

Its an old, old story. Remember Nicoli Tesla? Edison and Marconi got credit and $$$ for his inventions. Nothing much has changed.

Sounds like Jeffrey represents the working person and Danae, the government.

I remember seeing a popular UK bumper sticker on an old Morris Minor, “The parts falling from this vehicle are of the finest British manufacture.”

That’s how it works, but engineers willingly agree to do this. Can engineers found and run a competitive company? I didn’t think so.

Until recently, the inventor was happy to have all the gadgets and labs and be excited about success. Getting recognition from peers was a big plus. And not having to do Sales work- WOW.

I hardly think that 7 out of 79 episodes counts as “numerous”.

The shuttle on Star Trek came along later in the series. The model company AMT paid for the shuttle set in exchange for the exclusive rights to market models of it. Didn’t cost the producers a dime. AMT also bought the rights to market a model of the original Enterprise.
