Are you taking bets that the perp is an illegal immigrant? Or are you one of those posters that has to insult, regardless of whether your point matches the cartoon on which you are commenting? If it’s the former, I bet $1 against. If it’s the latter, welcome to the club. There are some very experienced tutors on this site.

North Korea has tightly sealed borders. Maybe Russell could learn from them.

Actually, Russel, I’m glad we’ve got Obama on this and not Bush, McCain, or Romney. Obama has handled this with class. Under a Republican, if the past is any guide, we’d probably respond by attacking Venezuela. Or, as you so ably demonstrated, by blaming a lack of border security, which has nothing whatsoever to do with this crime.

As to your comment of Mr. Obama being clueless regarding al Qaeda being “on the run”: May I remind you of Mr. Cheney, who in 2004 said that we were seeing the “final throes” of the death of al Qaeda. There’s plenty rose-colored glasses to go around.

And aren’t you one of those people who says that throwing money at a problem doesn’t solve it? You are complaining that we might have spent $9 million too little; I will say we spent $11 million too much.

NPR was not “breathlessly” reporting anything. They were asking legitimate questions about motives/perpetrators. The first “speculation” about Oklahoma City were about “Arab terrorists”.

I like the cartoon. Whoever did this will be looking over their shoulder until they day they die. Whether its looking for the police to arrest him, or for a fellow inmate to stick a blade in his back.Giving him the death penalty is too merciful and makes him a martyr to his cause. Just as death did for Tim McVeighPeople like him should be in a room and for twelve hours a day, they should show him images of the people he harmed. They should show video from people who were wounded as they fight to overcome the damage he did to them. Ten years from now he should be forced to see and hear video of people saying things like, “my son was eight when you killed him. If he had lived, he would have graduated high school and maybe had a girlfriend. He would have been planning what college to go to. And if you had not planted that bomb, you would be outside in the fresh air, having good food with friends and maybe going out with a girl friend of your own. Maybe playing with you own son or daughter. but nope, tonite you’ll sleep in the same bed with the same walls around you until the day you die”@ Ansonia – You must not have listened to the whole story. They talked about every possible kind of attacker. Eric Rudolph attacked a sporting event, the Atlanta Olympics and that made him a more relevant comparison. The fact that right wing groups have links to the jihadists websites showing how to make the kind of bombs used was interesting, but they made no accusations.Interestingly, despite past examples, none of the Muslim extremist groups have taken responsibility. They usually would have done so by now.No one took responsibility for Atlanta, and a security guard’s life was ruined until the truth finally came out.It makes it easy to blame “aryan nation” types when the pattern is the same. But NPR did not do that.Just a thought.Respectfully,C.

Yes, because securing the borders would have definitely stopped the Oklahoma City bombing, the Unibomber, and all of the acts of terrorism perpetrated against blacks during the civil rights movement.Let’s get some facts and make informed decisions instead of going off half cocked on assumptions someone pulled out of their #$%.
