Loved the “Wah Watusi”! Apart from the “Beach Blanket……”, etc., I also remember her doing Skippy peanut butter commercials… And of course Brittney and Christina had NOTHING on her as a teen queen on the Mouse! It’s funny how they mentioned her in the “Sandra Dee” song on Grease, as well!
One would hope that Phil’s sunglasses are extra-durable, cause his eyes will positively bug-out when Fritzi goes for a dip (we all know what happens to WHITE swimsuits when they get wet, don’t we guys?)
Annette Funicello also appeared in several episodes of Walt Disney’s ZORRO series. The first time was a birthday present to her from Walt himself, because she had a crush on Guy Williams (Zorro) according to Gerry Dooley’s book about the series. I remember those episodes – she was quite beautiful!
I would watch “The Mickey Mouse Club” after high school. My mother thought I was a little old for that, but I (and my male classmates) were watching it to observe the word “ANNETTE” change shape under her jersey.
Is Phil taking ‘roids? He’s taller and buffer than when he arrived a few months ago. Not that time and space follow any particular rules in the funny papers.
Fritzi doesn’t have to know How to Stuff a Wild Bikini to look fetching. By the way Annette never wore a Bikini in those beach movies, keeping a promise to her Mickey Mouse Club boss Walt Disney.
Y’know what? they could be listening to a station that’s been playing songs from things she’s been in, or sang on, all day…. or just popped in their own collection of Annette tunes!
The ThisTV cable channel is having two of Annette’s beach movies on tomorrow, followed by Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. No Annette in that one, but what a comedy classic.
When Mickey Mouse Club was on I got my braids cut and wore my dark curly hair short like Annette did. You sure draw Nancy and Sluggo cuter than some previous cartoons. I still wish he had little lines instead of dots on his head. (for hair)

Annette was also my first Crush. Annette wore one piece bathing suits because Walt did not want her showing any belly button.
