Considerng the plumbing tools, I suspect it’s the inability to stop the flow of inane GOP ideas and obstructionism.

I only wish they were simply annoying. These droplets are nasty and no matter how hard you scrub, your hands never get clean.

And your comment was supposed to make anyone think differently than the cartoon? Personally, I pay my full share of taxes, probably at a higher rate than many. Also, it is the GOP-voting states that tend to TAKE more from the feudal trough while the Democrat-voting states generally PAY in more than they take. So GOP take but whine.

I think you’re right. Liberals pay their taxes in advance through payroll deductions, while GOPers game the system so that they pay nothing until they absolutely have to, and then use whatever tricks they can to avoid even that. They want the benefits of club membership, but they don’t want to pay their dues.

Zoid is lying to us, as usual, with no data to back up his unbelievable statements. It’s not the blue states that take the most, it’s the red states. Here’s the math:

Note that the top ten states that provide more in taxes than they receive in benefits are blue states. Now that California has finally gotten rid of Republican obstructionism, it is actually recovering!

I’m a Democrat, and I pay may taxes. I prefer the party that actually IS fiscally responsible, not the party that says it is but then governs like a drunken sailor. They STILL want to eliminate any tax at all on capital gains (check the platform). Simply inexcusable pandering to the rich at the expense of those who work for a living.

The cartoon is going to appeal to the left while aggravating the right and in it’s simplistic presentation, fails to really identify or address the problem. Is Mr. Toles making a comment about infrastructure? Pipes don’t drip water if the seals and gaskets are in good order. Is he making a statement about how Republicans repeat the same demands week after week- Drip(cut taxes for the rich), Drip(cut entitlements), drip(open the keystone pipeline), drip(etc, etc.)The cartoon is divisive and unless someone can tell me how it raises the tone of the debate, it is not helpful to building any kind of cooperation between the differing philosophies. Since there are plenty of conservative artists who make equally divisive comments aimed at the democrats, some may find Mr. Tole’s work justified and valid. There are so many drips in Congress that it seems the Senate and House members are all wet. And while I will argue with anyone who blames only the republicans, I find there are many legitimate reasons to put a heavier load of blame upon them. Good Lord! You really think “libs” aren’t hard working and don’t pay taxes? You mean like The Romneys of this world, who hide their wealth in the Caymans to minimize what they owe? Or the super rich who never have to work a day in their lives because they inherited Daddy’s money? I know folks who work two jobs for minimum wage and don’t pay taxes because they don’t earn enough to do so!

The U.S. isn’t getting any sleep tonight with the GOP drip running up the water bill and not helping to pay for it.

@Omnius:The “surplus” is accounting smoke and mirrors by excluding much of the pension liabilities. And, living here, I can tell you things continue to get worse, not better.

Federal income tax is close to the lowest rate in many decades. Yes, the TOTAL tax burden may be higher, but complaining about the federal income tax is like whining to the cable company that your water and electric bills are too high.

Trusted: Thanks for the reminder. And Romney never did what his dad did, and go back 10 years. Think it had anything to do with the 2009 amnesty for bringing back un/underreported overseas income? Why aren’t the Republicans complaining about THAT amnesty?
