Dear Mr. Danziger. I love your work, but your grip on how the UK looks and feels, especially how UK pubs look and feel seems to be stuck on a time warp. Your portrayals smack of the ’60’s and a culture north of the watford gap. Should I wonder how accurate your renditions of denizens of the southern states are?
What we actually did when she died was hold street parties and give out “Maggie’s dead” cakes to strangers. This was reported for a few hours, then the reporting suddenly stopped in the national papers and TV. Local media continued to cover it.
People are still wearing “Still Hate Thatcher” T-shirts.

A quality pint costing say £3.50 over here yields a tax take per pint of almost £1.14. See http://www.camra.org.uk/beertax
