Mr. “Red” Ken Livingstone is full of sour grapes. She took a bankrupt nation (caused by Ken’s cronies) and returned a semblance of what it once was.

Before Baroness Thatcher if the unions said jump the nation shook – I remember the dead not being buried, the rubbish not being collected, not being able to go to hospital and not being able to have a warm meal – everything caused by those union fellows who wanted to feather their own nests.

Housing crisis? Baroness Thatcher allowed people in social housing to become owners of their own home. An attempt to stop this was caused by the Labour councils. She tried to reduce the hold Government had peoples lives. Something that is hated by Mr. Livingston.

She had her principles, and stuck by them. Most people can respect (even if they do not like them.)

Mrs. Thatcher was a hero. Any politician that frees the productive and the industrious from the stranglehold of the union bosses, the indolent, and the stupid is doing Great things.

We need more courageous people like her in office and less of the Obamas and the Blairs.

Well, ya gotta give Maggie credit. She reduced the top income tax rate from 83% to 60% and again down to 40% which is only 15% more than the Republians currently want. And she did increase the sales tax rate (Value Added Tax) to 15% from 7-1/2%. And the single-payer healthcare system (far more socialized than Obamacare) she inherited?, Well, let me tell you how she took care of that! No changes…In many ways, Maggie Thatcher was to the left of today’s Democrats. So don’t kid yourselves.

@d_lengendary1 – You must buy into the philosophy that it is one of the government’s jobs to equalize outcome. More specifically to Equalize outcome by taking from the productive so that it can be handed out to the less productive.

Because if you truly believe in equalized outcome there are better ways to achieve it. Instead of taking from those who produce you could go after those who don’t produce. Have the government show up at their houses at 5:00 in the morning and wake them up and make them show up for work early. Stand over them during the day and scold them when they slack off. Go to the pub with them at the end of the day and point out that their more successful peers are still toiling away in the office.

I believe the government should be in the business of making sure equal opportunity is available: Providing infrastructure and security. In a system like that many can thrive – and those who do not don’t deserve too.

People like you love to soak the rich because you feel like they must have gotten a better deal from the government then you. The Truth is some of them were lucky but I see a very strong correlation between hard work and success. It isn’t the only factor but it seems to be the biggest.

Margaret Thatcher recognized that there were too many people assuming they were owed a living at the expense of others (kinda like you) and so they weren’t working and the country was suffering for it (kinda like our country now).

For whatever it means the world today is mainly the result of the Reagan-Thatcher bund. we have been reacting to it ever since.

@Gary and many of us have been thriving on it.

Reagan and Thatcher didn’t steal from the poor. They made it harder for the poor to take from the rich. In the minds of some tht is just like stealing from them because it cut off their legal means to reach into someone elses pocket.

The system isn’t rigged. People can and are succeeding without Obama’s help. You have to live within your means, work hard, defer gratification, and be resiliant to setbacks but the result is: Stronger individuals, Stronger families, and a Stronger America.

Globalization is here to stay and you won’t make $100K/year doing a job that can be done in India or China for $5K/year. On the other hand you can make a ton of money doing all those jobs that make sure the product manufactured in India makes it to the American market in a form ready to sell.

Hmm, “Heaven” is a place on “Star Trek”, where money has become irrelevant?

I thought it amusing that “Ding dong, the witch is dead” temporarily went to the top of the charts in England following her death. I guess she left a lasting legacy of dislike with a fairly large chunk of the electorate.
