What kind of research would need to be done on a case like this? We had a lawyer on this site the other day — if you’re still with us, fill us in. Would there be a lot of precedents to review? If any case seems run of the mill, this would be it.

1st what happened to their shoes? 2nd who ever heard of an Chaldean Iraqi high school baseball player? I seriously doubt there are many baseball fields among the Iraqi soccer and death fields.

I worked for a slip and fall attorney for a year. There will be no research, and there will be no contact between the attorney and the gas station owner. The guy who fell will get all of his medical treatment taken care of, and his attorney will then reach a settlement with the insurance company. Even if for some reason this case goes to court, the insurance company will provide the legal defense.

Shot down by Darby and now by Chalderhead. These things happen in 3’s. Gil’s turn!

When did we stop having common sense to walk around a “patch of ice”. Problems can fix themselves if we would just let them. Next time avoid the patch of ice, put the blame where it belongs on the idiot that walked on a patch of ice.

I stand corrected it was a “little patch of ice”. http://www.gocomics.com/gilthorp/2013/03/18

I have to give Neal and Rod credit on this one. Never heard of or thought of Chaldeans before yesterday and I feel like I’ve learned something in the last 48 hours.

Isn’t mistaking an Iraqi Christian an Arab akin to calling a guy a German Lutheran, and him getting upset because he is a Swiss Catholic? Lighten up Francis.

I almost got it wrong. The Chaldean guy is the one who ‘forgot’ to salt the driveway. Some other shlub fell down. I am not sure what the race factor plays here, but I CAN see all the way to the back of Knox’s head in P3.

Settlement with the insurance company is the most likely outcome, but there is almost always a deposition of the defendant. In this case, the father of the player. And I seem to remember the lawyer telling the kid that he could help withe the depositions. So I look forward to some fun-filled strips dedicated to depositions!
