Younger people in Maryland complained that they were being discriminated against by being carded, so for a while stores were carding everybody, no matter how you looked. Litle old ladies with walkers, grey haired men – you got carded. It got absolutely silly. Now, my dad, who never did look his age, once got carded to prove he was eligible for a senior discount.
When I first went to college, I got into the campus pizza pub on my good looks alone (and a mustache) at 17 during a night class. Of course, I was a good boy and only bought Diet Coke. Then they started carding everyone to enter, including a fellow student who was 35 but looked 19. Finally they redecorated and then allowed everyone to enter but only carded you if you were buying a beer.

I’m 61.Last year I was carded at a store.Obviously the store or the clerk was carding everyone, but I still thought it was pretty cool.
