In todays newspaper I read, a soccer player gave the referee a kick, the referee took a knive and killed the player, after that the spectators ran into the pitch and divided the referee in four parts! Fine!
People become actors and athletes because they don’t know what else to do. Just like any other career, there are those that rise to the top. If you look at all the people that claim the career, but end up in a life of odd jobs, you wouldn’t say they were all overpaid. Better odds in the lottery.

Sports Illustrated (weekly US sports magazine) a couple of issues ago profiled a volunteer referee at a high school soccer game who, after red-carding a player, was punched in the head by that player, ended up in a coma and passed away. So much for sportsmanship anymore.
Athletes only make that kind of money for one to ten years and then have no marketable skills for a respectable job for the rest of their lives. (Sports announcing and high school coaching document, not refute, this statement.) The entertainment industry offers longer tenure, but only if it is based on talent instead of a well-constructed payola campaign.
No point griping about overpaid players unless you include the billionaire owners – all players have done is demand a share of the huge pie that is pro-sports – TV revenue, tickets, etc. And that in turn reflects fans who will pay for expensive seats, and watch the games (and advertising) that generate the huge revenues. And the cities that build sports arenas using public money so those billionaire owners don’t have to build their own arenas. It’s all a reflection that our society worships sports.
thats a great question! the people that risk their lives everyday like soldiers,cops and firefighters should be making millions of dollars every year.plus they shouldn’t have to pay taxes.
We dont even go to the college games anymore either. We gave (donated) more and more each year and our assigned parking place got farther and farther away from the stadium. Drinks were $5.00 each and the bathroom was a long way away. I’ll stay home thank you.
Little off the topic. Calvin trying to hit the ball with bat, reminds me of Kenny Rogers song. I cannot remember the title. Has to do with a boy playing baseball trying to hit the ball each time with a bat.
