“As a German I’m – of course :-) – a master of efficiency”
Morty, thanks for sharing your Teutonic superiority with us. The truth be told a substantial part of our economy is wrapped up in that flying debacle you bring up. In 2000 the military budget was 300 billion. Today it is 700 billion and change and it’s still growing.
Being the pragmatist I am I often wonder what great things we could do with our military budget diverted to scientific and technical research and medicine just to name a few. Of course that means you would have to pay us rent for our military to hang out in your country, (part of my new budgetary program).
Too bad our military are being so badly shortchanged by Patriotic American Politicians. They are bait and switch artists … we pay the taxes to support the wars, but boots on the ground see very little of it . How much support do our vets get?
I don’t mind supporting the soldiers, and I don’t mind equipping them, but remember the unarmoured humvees? I don’t know about you, but I’d have sent armoured humvees … maybe they mixed up the orders, and their kids got new armoured humvees for graduation presents.
Or maybe they just didn’t bother ordering armour at all. After all, it saved money not to armour them, right?
A standing army is expensive, but it’s not something I’d want to dispense with. However, when I fund the army, I expect to be funding the army, not lining political pockets and bloating off shore bank accounts.
That statement is an overbroad and frankly, cruel, Right.^Employers who create an environment of low pay, unsafe working conditions, and other unethical, immoral, and even illegal working conditions are the reason people created unions to begin with^.It would be good if all Americans had honorable, ethical employers like you seem to have had. Sadly, too many employers treat the humans working on their behalf like a necessary evil at best or disposable tools. That’s not right.Respectfully,C.

Well, that seems reasonable enough, really.
