jonesb is correct. When Nixon took office, gold was locked in at $35 per ounce. He removed us from the gold standard to allow gold prices to “float”. How high could it go, anyway? He found out in a hurry, and as usual, you can’t force the toothpaste back into the tube.
You really have lots of hate in your posts. Sorry the world mistreats you so. Perhaps if you would actually learn the basics of (and advantages and disadvantages of) socialism and capitalism, you might not be so unhappy. And you just might learn something.
You seem to be very unhappy with people I am pretty sure do not exist; certainly not in the numbers you seem to presume they do.
