Had to read “A tale of 2 cities” and write a report in high school.Couldn’t begin to read it,so off to summer school for me.To this day I don’t know what it’s about^^It was so long ago that I read that, but, I believe it was about an innocent man who goes to the Guillotine in the place of someone else. and I think there was a love triangle in there too… anyone here who can elaborate?

As I always say… Welcome back, Clouds of Dust!

Andy would either read racing books as he mentioned today or the A-Z Book of Pub Beverages.

    LOL xxx

Such as it is… I am indifferent to it at this point and may do the replacement tomorrow.

Jack and Gerry ran that place from about the late 1950s into about the mid 1970s. Can’t recall if it was for the oil company or the property owner that they closed up shop.

Uncle Jack managed an ARCO station up the road for several years until one night his oldest boy, who was working nights, got held up at gunpoint. THAT ENDED THAT !!! It was a convenience store type station and not the full service repair shop he had previously.

The next chapter for him was the stint at the nursing home as a maintenance guy and eventually as super. A very good time for him. Aunt Eileen got involved, first visiting residents who looked like they could use a friend and finally, where she was running an arts and craft class once a week. Jack retired from that job and is doing well.

I bet the residents used to look forward to your Aunt Eileen’s visits!

    I hope she’s doing well.

I’m sorry to hear about what Jack’s son had experienced while he was working. I hope whoever was holding the gun got thrown in the cells.

Was Jack mostly in charge or was Gerry?

Good Luck with the replacement today if you haven’t done it already…

I hope your day is going great!

I can still see the dining table laid out for a wedding feast. The candelabra covered in cobwebs, dust covering the plates and silver. Great Expectations indeed…Twiddly Tuesday Hugs ((((((( CAPPERS ! )))))))

    @Gweedo Murray

I’m really sorry to hear that your ban is permanent. I know it’s not going to make a difference now but since Number Six and Linda pasted their emails to GoComics on Andy Capp… I may as well show you and everyone else what I wrote too:________________________________________________

    Dear Admin,

I understand that you have banned the user ‘Gweedo Murray’ I’m sure he didn’t mean any harm in his comments as he had mentioned that no offence was intended. He tried to explain himself afterwards but it was too late.

I’ve been exchanging comments with him for quite a while now and I think he’s a nice enough man. I also know that he has had a history of bannings from GoComics.

I enjoy being on this site. I’ve managed to make very sweet, caring friends from all over the world and I can’t tell you how much that means to me.

    Gweedo was one of them.

Everyone enjoys his postings… Not just on Andy Capp but also on Dick Tracy.

Do you think you can consider ‘unbanning’ him once again?

Thank you so much for listening.

    Annelise (Number Three)

I could have done better but I had already sent it off. I would have changed “Gweedo WAS one of them” to “Gweedo IS one of them”

I hope you still decide to post… Even if we will have to view your comments via your profile from now on. It’s better than nothing.

Thank you for your comment to me which you posted earlier. I enjoyed reading it! I can’t really reply to it all right now because of THIS comment… I will tomorrow.

Again, Sorry for your ban. We’re all going to miss your postings the ‘original way’

Thank you for brightening this forum up and sorry for my long comment.

Can anybody see this? Please respond . . . .goatcomix censorship has spread to mi; evidently they were upset by some facts in my profile. And i want to say it’s disappointing someone deciding Quido’s “privileges” on a public Forum would make such a racist assumption. Shame on You; reading Your guilt into things not intended for You! . . . .but just Their ALARMING disregard for basic etiquette and responsibility should have told mi that.

I guess I’m a blind optimist, but I think if we all just chill out for a while it will just go away. It’s called the ostrich effect.

Guido says the ‘incident’ wasn’t at FA, but still . . .it was an “Adult” comic. Presume the Audience is 5th Grade and up; knows a little, and is due some credit. Still, I’m spillin’ my guts and we’re cryin over safe Milk here. Not cryin’ Wolf, tho i’m howlin’What’s so Great about It? “dat soon; dat Spoon; dat Spoon-full . . . .whatcha gonna DO ‘bout It? don’t try ta fight about IT?!?”
