One evening years ago, back when I had a dog, we were relaxing on the couch. I had a glass of porter and my pipe going. All was right with the world. At some point my dog jumped up, frantic. I was confused. Then I smelled burning hair and saw a wisp of smoke coming off of her back. a burning ember jumped out of my pipe and landed on her.That is why Leon distrusts Louie.

Perhaps Leon’s sartorial splender may have something to do with it…

Well, now that my secret is out in the open, I can confess that sometimes when I’m late it’s cos of Benny.

Getting him settled down for the night can take a while…

Bev…. you asked about getting one…well, they are a handful… Right now it’s like having a 2 year old kid…one who can fly around the room and breathe fire.

(Trying to teach him to control both, but we’re not there yet….)

Still. he sleeps a lot more of the time than a human baby…And it’s fun to watch him do magical things….

So we can talk about it, when Benny’s old enough to breed…I’m not sure how what age dragons have to be….Hey…. maybe Red knows.He’s familiar with dragons.Red?

And he already wants to learn to be helpful…Not much he can really do yet.

The other day I let him make toast with his flames….

The experiment was not altogether successful.

But when I finally get him settled down…he IS awfully cute.Good thing children’s sleepwear is required by law to be flame resistant….

The site seems to be having some trouble today (can’t see Susan’s toast, and the line space did not work at DS this morning (I don’t like to make a statement that long w/o a space).

Once again, Rusty Boy has elevated the intensity and shown Leon what a well trained and disciplined dog can do. Skilled, aggressive, and shrewd, Rusty Boy has the entire household off balance and cautious. This is his territory; he rules in his domain, other may enter at their risk. Leon doesn’t like being treated like a tenant, but what choice does he have now? He started it and now wonders what will become of it??? Shirley is in the bedroom with the door closed, refuses to be bothered with such foolishness. Men and their dogs, you would of thought they would have grown out of it by now. But no, they had to stay on Ballard Street and have one more session.

Leon apparently is still collecting checkerboard shirts…just his little way of reminding everybody that he held the Checkers Championship Title at the Ballard Checkers Club and Coupon Clippers for three years running — ‘78, ’79 and ’80.

Louie chewed up Leon’s trophies back in ’99…

Louie thought that he could trust Leon to feed him. After all, wasn’t he wearing a checkered tablecloth? But he soon realized that it was a checker board and only Shirley was allowed to play on it.

The pink tie was for Shirley- when it was to the right, love was in the air, but to the left meant a cold shoulder. Hanging straight down was the worst, and Louie knew it. Combined with the orange fireproof vest, it could mean only one thing.

Leon was going to put his pipe out on Louie’s back! Louie determined that if he couldn’t eat dinner off Leon’s chest- he’d eat Louie!

susan, your baby dragon is so cute! I’m sure he will get the hang of toast soon enough. Meanwhile, I like burnt toast, so I’ll take some.
