A very good choice. Two hundred and ten signed up. I would say that is heart warming. And Maude knows where their best it.Jenner do you think Aaron chose to introduce the clerk in the radio shop with a Morv Hughs mustache . He was a very poplar and good at cricket in your neck of the woods.I digress. I read a lot. Blessed Be

Something about the Jackrabbit stinks. His “nomination” seemed like a plant. Don’t like the rat’s smug expression.

Oh, I think Wally and Holly have a good idea. Al and Gustine never even met Jacob Jackrabbit.

the fact that Holly has doubts would stop me cold about Jake. I can’t remember what all they know about the hot headed hare, but if Holly has hesitations about about him, I do too.

Or you could, you know, get a full civil defense team. Costs more but is more effective.

Or just, yeah, take the passionate guy with no legal experience.

Wally and Holly know Jacob Jackrabbit as a loud talking rabble rouser with an agenda. It was the mayor, Flask, Dottie and Mallard who know Jackrabbit as a coward. Mind you, I can only see one verdict and setance from the council at this point. It would take the likes of Aaron Marx or Prof. Mallard to change that.

Maude knows Jake Jackrabbit and wants him on their team…but Holly knows him, too. Maybe they should have a lawyer each. But if it’s gonna be somebody they know, Linda doesn’t know anybody.

There was a scene in a mafia-yakuza mystery story some years back where one of the bad guys cut a finger off of the hero’s wife. The hero put the bad guy in a closet with a cat, then fired a shot next to the door to panic the cat. When the shrieking in the closet started to settle down, the hero would shoot again.Maude has just picked her cat, and security has selected the closet. All that remains is for someone to fire the first shot.

The rat is not being smug. Just being professional and to the point. Matter of fact the rat was helpful in pointing out the legally qualified just to help. If the list was fixed you would get ONE name or “We have chosen one for you that best fits YOUR needs.”Given the current state of affairs with the council it does not matter WHO they pick to defend them. Allgood even realizes what will occur. The Council is fixed and lovely Velda knows all about it. What ever Velda’s agenda is it does not matter who defends our heroes or Allgood deciding not to go on. The result will be the same. The Council will find them guilty and pass sentence. I feel in my “spidey” sense its going to come down to a choice by someone to either pull the triggers or turn the guns.Remember with the Council as Judge and Jury it does not matter what happens. The decision is fixed. The conclusion is what will matter.

Holy cow (with apologies to Maude), a cricket reference on this site! I love it. Good catch, DOL. You’re thinking of Mervyn Hughes, a dandy bowler for the Oz back in the 80’s and 90’s. Cricket should be more popular here in the States (and it was before baseball grew after the Civil War), but only Twenty20 has a real shot at growing the sport. We Yanks don’t have the attention span for a real two-innings match.

The rat doesn’t look happy about the selection. Remember, they want it to look legitimate so they can say they were fair. How many of the highlighted lawyers were actually plants of the council? Probably all of them. Remember, he doesn’t say how many of the 210 are lawyers. All the council has to do is put in about 12 to 18 lawyers in there. They then sit back and figure that they will pick the best one. The council and the rats didn’t look at the final list, they assumed that there would be no question about who to select.

To Furlips. I remember that cartoon. There was a Russian version of it later. It showed all the soldiers stepping forward when asked and their commander bragging on how they all volunteer without question in Soviet Union. The American commander looks behind them seeing others with bayonets pointing at the ones who stepped forward to volunteer. Point was American soldiers have a choice, Soviet soldiers had none.

Some one commented Velda is or could be working with Jake. I think not. Velda is working with whoever is controlling the Council. There was never an issue with Allgood versus Jackrabbit before. Each had their agenda and everything worked fine. Many Endtowners were members of the Society. Remember it stood for an ideal. It has gotten out of hand and even Allgood is seeing he is not in control.Velda has worked Allgood and the Society ideals into the fall guy. However it is known the Council is out of control (Remember AL) and what has Al upset is no one can do anything about it. It is a runaway train and will run out of track. Big train wreck coming for one and all to see.Someone has fixed the entire Council choosing system and the lovely lady Velda is in cahoots (always wanted to use that word) with the culprit or culprits.Allgood is beginning to have doubts. Remember that scene. Velda put him right back in his place as her patsy. He may soon feel a sharp pain in his back when Velda shoves the knife in and begins to twist it if he falters.I await to see who is really behind all this. Rival communities? Exiled Ex-Endtowners wanting revenge?A criminal element now making it’s debut?Either way I do not see a good outcome for Velda. She is a tragedy waiting to happen.

Here is one to play with. Wally goes to meet Allgood to get some answers.Velda senses Allgood is going to crumble and back out destroying all the plans.Wally shows up at Allgood’s office. Allgood is sitting in his chair. Wally calls but no response. Wally turns the chair. Allgood has been shot. Wally sees the gun on the floor and picks it up.In rush the Security as if on cue seeing Wally with the gun and arrest him for killing Allgood.

After all this is Mickey Spillane.

Orrrr… this all could be a golden opportunity to do a reset on The Way Things Are Done in Endtown. The various nefarious players are making their plays, and highlighting the weaknesses is the system as it is. So, once they are dealt with, perhaps we’ll see some kind of democratic process, not only to select the how of a new government, but perhaps the who as well. Secret councils might serve in the immediate post crisis days, when hard, quick, and unpopular decissions were needed, but now there has been enough time for institutionalizing social and cultural issues to arise, and they need to be handled as openly as possible. And too, the potential for organized crime and its counters.

AND PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASEGet Holly a booster seat.Linda can at least see over the table. It is odd she has been so quiet. When is she going to let one off?Of course she is new to all this so I imagine she has nothing to add at this time.Ohhhhhh! Here is a thought that just ripped through. The ones behind this are all EX Topsiders. Those that became mutated like Linda and got picked up but where Linda was know these were not know. No one knew Flask was ex Topsider till her end story and even then it was not made public in Endtown. All sworn to secrecy. There may have been others like Flask.Like I pointed out one time the conversations of the Council sounded like Topsiders when deciding some ones fate.

Remember, folks,Jacob Jackrabbit is a news reporter by trade. So you’ve got to wonder exactly what constitutes “legal experience” in the minds of the Powers That Be. Fighting a ticket? Covering a trial? Getting arrested? That type of “experience” could be applied to anybody on that list. There are probably a lot of well-meaning folks who think they have an open-and-shut case, using logic and common sense. This list is even more suspect if it turns out that JJ is the only highlighted person on it (highly likely). Yes,folks, even the late Ray Charles can see where this is going.

About the rats, if just one of them wishes he had a chance with Holly, and I suspect the rats would love a really cute and sexy mouse, they may see that whoever is willing to slaughter little Holly has to be a person with no morals, and also figure out that they, being so small are just as expendable as Holly to such an unscrupulous killer. THeir Only advantage is their guns. without guns they would have to run and skitter away and hide. THat would be enough to turn them!
