I can totally see Phoebe saying that same line. Also you know your getting old when instead of being happy for a snow day your grumpy as it means having to shovel or worry about down trees.
They cancel schools here in Texas if there is a THREAT of snow. Barely got a dusting this year. Schools closed or two hours late opening. I remember a big snow storm back east in PA about 1960 or so when the drifts were so high you could walk up onto the roof of your house. Still had to go to school and I was a walker. No bus for me. It was two miles away so I had to walk. Mom did not have a driver license at the time. She kept failing the driving test in PA.(Yeah I know. Uphill! Both Ways! ;-)))
When I was a kid, growing up in Scottsdale Arizona, we sometimes used have school closures when it RAINED really hard.
No joke, the streets would flood, cars would stall, and there’d be no such thing as making it to class. And even if you could, my schooi had to be sandbagged a couple of times
Doesn’t happen any more, there’s much better runoff control now than there was back the day.
In the Pacific Northwest, what’ll really shut the schools down ( and everything else ) is a big hit of FREEZING rain.

Not timely. Profound and immaculately true and the art is perfect, but we needed it a month or two ago.

All righ! The beginning of a one of my favorite Ozy and Millie story arcs.
And Millie never looked cuter than she did in this cartoon.
