Don’t worry, Abner, we all get that boxed-in feeling at times.

Oh, Kadaver will get out…..he’s the best villain going now! However, after biting my tongue through the previous adventures, I have to vent……just can’t STAND the Double-up character…..wish the fishes or plant would’ve got him…the saying the same thing twice joke gets real old, real fast….at least have him visit a speech therapist and get fixed, plus develop a personality. And Stiletta’s back…that rocks!

Hmmmmm……..sure hope Moon Creature is in the same story as Abner, Stiletta, etc….otherwise I’d be happy to put her on hold even longer…..maybe this time somebody good is finally going to be in serious, rather than comedic, trouble…..we need a little return to the grimmer, more serious DT……we’ve had our light-hearted break and then some…..

Smart move on Stiletta’s part, putting the heart symbol away from her vital organs so people will target there instead of her actual heart.

Nice to see the gang return. I’ve purchased the Tracy ebook and recommend it if you have a device to read it on. Great value for $2.99.

A lot of these guys were wounded badly in that fateful end to Panda’s Talent Shop. Double Up was filled full of lead by Blaze and especially Fritz Ann! My, how he’s recovered.

michyle, shes not TOTALLY unkown… frizzletop came to police hq and spilled the beans on her cousin flattop’s wife. we know stiletta is the mother of flattop jr and angeltop and that she worked in a travelling circus as a knife thrower.. we also know that shes got a vendetta against tracy for the death of her children and husband, and that shes got two VERY CAPABLE henchmen working with her.. franz and hugo.. and i believe hugo (please correct me if i am wrong which i am SURE someone will) has some sort of medical skill. it would be a kick if the ambulance that took the late great measles away from sunny dell acres was actually commandeered by stiletta and her crew and that measles REALLY ISNT DEAD! ;)

This morning at about 10:50, I tried to come to this site, but wound up on a weird looking page with everything lined up on the extreme left. All the comics were listed, and I could click on them, but I could not see any comments. I finally found a button called “previous feature”, and when I clicked on that, it came here. Has that happened to anyone else? Is GoComics in the process of changing this site?

but NightGaunt is kadaver REALLY a serial killer… or just a mass murderer? A serial killer has a repeating pattern to their crimes where a mass murderer simply kills a lot of people. i am not aware of whether or not kadaver has a recurring “theme” to his kills. anyone got info on this? Bueller?? Bueller? Bueller? :)

Wasn’t it Stiletta that had that drip going on Tracy when Sam intervened and ran the gurney into the front door of the hospital?

Huh, I like Stiletta and enjoyed her story. To each his own. I’m glad to see her again and am sure she’s plotting more mayhem for Tracy.

Abner K will escape and return, ala Hannibal Lecter or something……..why else would his name keep coming up and why would that lawyer have suggested breaking him out earlier? He’s awesome………..Tracy never WAS able in any way to escape before, or even do anything to summon help…….he just plain GOT LUCKY Junior came along when he did……Kadaver totally had his number………

SPOILER ALERT: Posts exist stating that this story, with Mrs. Flattop, is a “short intermission” leading up to the extended (promised?) Moon Maid story. (Frankly, I thought that was what the Jumbler story was)As such (a “short intermission”), I don’t expect much out of this meeting of past Tracy villains.Other posts indicate, and I believe this is true, that Gould did manage to kill off his best villains – often in the style that Sweatbox went out.And I agree with other posters that, as a villain, Sweatbox had some real possibilities, but he was killed off way too early. Many questions abound – why did he do it, when did he do it, how did he manage hiding the corpses in his family mausoleum, and was he currently engaged in these nefarious affairs (especially since he was now close buddies with the mayor)…I don’t agree with other posters that Measles was prematurely killed off. To me, he was just another punk whose only motive (at the time of his present appearance) was revenge – a concern and a weakness pointed out by current posters about the appearance of Mrs. Flattop. However, his death rolls into the overall question raised by many posters as to whether Dick Tracy has sufficient worthy opponents in this game. Many posts indicate that, just two years ago, the strip was dying. Clearly, Curtis and Staton were hired to breathe new life into the franchise, if that were possible. And the multitude of posts the strip attracts daily attests that they are doing something right, so far.Looking back at my posts, and the posts of others, brings to mind thoughts shared with me by the current host (who will remain unnamed) of a Chicago radio show that is also an institution. Previously hosted by two people, when those people were no longer associated with the radio station, one of the previous hosts said to the new host,“Make the show your own.”This is what Curtis and Staton are doing with Dick Tracy. And, I might add, perhaps the perceived lack of success of previous post-Gould authors may have been that they did NOT “make the show (their) own.” Yes, they killed off characters they had the most difficulty with, such as Moon Maid. But I don’t think they succeeded in making the strip their own strip.Perhaps they were looking for a “golden age Gould” to go back to. And there have been sufficient comments in these posts to suggest that, perhaps unfortunately, pre-Moon Maid wasn’t the real “golden age” of Dick Tracy. Was Dick Tracy a crime drama or sci-fi romp? Hard to say. Criminals were often physically deformed monstrosities. But to me, the introduction of the two-way wrist radio is what moved Tracy into sci-fi back in the 1930s. So, Moon Maid didn’t begin the sci-fi era – but I will agree with detractors that she certainly pushed the envelope more than any other element Gould added. But what do all these comments have in common, whether we agree or disagree on the direction Curtis and Staton are going with this strip? This:It’s Curtis and Staton’s strip, not ours. And it’s not Gould’s, anymore, either. And I do agree that, two years ago, the strip was, indeed, dying. Today, each daily strip garners dozens of comments; hopefully, that means people are reading the strip. So, like it or not, the strip is better off today than it was two years ago.Perhaps a better question may be: Would “golden age Gould” pass muster today?

Intro (skip if you’ve already read any of the previous intros):

Hello, greetings, casual readers of past Tracy stories. I’m here because I’m on 2 missions. The first is something I’ve never done before, read each Tracy story by Mike Curtis (or his occasional guest writer) in one sitting each. I feel his stories are worth it. IMHO, Curtis is by far the best post-Gould writer this strip has ever had, and we’re all lucky to have him.

My second mission is to provide an immediately useful Featured Comment whenever needed. My 3 friends below will reply to me. You can read their replies if you like, but their only real purpose is to bump up this comment to the Featured Comment.

There are 2 basic types of immediately useful Featured Comments: anytime that day’s strip quotes a real song. I will provide an html to a recording to that song so you’ll know the tune even if you’ve never heard it before. The other type (this type) is to provide you with a Mumblespeak translator when needed.

    End Intro

    “What’d he say?”

Mumblespeak Translator: He said, “B-B Eyes, what did the lawyer say about me?”

    “What’d he say?”

Mumblespeak Translator: He said, “Hey, who’s that dame?”
