Yees, deadly is so much different from mortally wounded. Was or wasn’t it a fact that people at the time didn’t know wether she would make it, and it was said that she was fighting for her life – i would interpret that as mortally wounded even in these days with medical care.

I used to think Biden was an awkward speaker, until the Ryan debate.

Umm, no. The right answer is “gravely”. “Critically” is also good with the “ly” ending. (Critical would need that too.) But deadly? Careful, Benson might be doing a cartoon about you next.It’s a small misspeak and I’m surprised Benson bothered. I’m also surprised that no one — Benson in particular — didn’t notice that the VP stumbled on the fact it happened in Tucson. Just before the thing quoted.But does either matter? It reminds me of when people voted for GWB in 2000 because Al Gore looked a bit stiff when he gave a speech. Look where that got us. When will Americans learn to distinguish what matters. Steve Benson usually does better.
