Stone Soup by Jan Eliot for April 28, 2013
Transcript:
Stone Soup by Jan Eliot Val: Yikes, somebody needs to clean this house. Val: Somebody besides ME. Val: Who wants to earn $10? Holly: I Googled housecleaning services, Mom...the going rate is $20 an hour, 3-hour minimum. Holly: Apparently, telling us to "know our worth" is just some kind of platitude. Alix: You missed a spot.

According to my mom, house cleaning is part of living in a house, and if we wanted to continue having beds and TV privileges, we’d better hop to it!

@Holly+AlixIf Ten-Dollars is all she’s giving… than a Ten-Dollar-jobs-worth is all Val’s getting.

That $10 job comes with meals and a place to sleep. If she wants the “cool clothes”, that is how to get them.

Holly should Google how much rent and groceries cost. She’s getting them for free now.

My friend’s teen-aged son told her to “stay out of his life” and so she did. Only cooked enough for herself and daughter, left the son’s clothes on the laundry floor, left him to pack his own lunch, and pretended she didn’t hear him when he spoke to her. Lasted three days.
