I was supposed to bring them some Brain Bleach every Thursday on my route…. but Elvis (my dog car, for anyone who hasn’t met him) doesn’t want to park near their house…..He whines till we’re a block away. And the Nordwell’s cat (next door) ran away and won’t come home.

There’s a lot of counterfeit memorabilia from this place. They had only three restaraunts.Go have a look at the Jim Crow Museum website. It’s shocking.
Susan wasn’t unwilling to share; she just felt it was really inappropriate and offensive to post such a thing here.I guess we have to look at things like this, to remember a bad time, and insure that it never happens again.
It’s 8:48 pm in the UK and I’m thinking that there are more US citizens on this site than anyone else. Not a problem, just that I hate having to wait ages for any “come-back.” Some of you might be late risers, whilst some may have been at work for a while. But mostly you all seem to drink in the same bar. Too many bananas, lots of malt whisky and a few dogs and apes..Take care…Annie Conda and her Ophidian Empire are looking for business opportunities. Rambling I may be, but it’ll take more than a blue sheriff monkey to outwit the slithering horde of Annie’s enclave..Baby Boa is available for public appearances and his 8 volume memoire is available from all good bookstores. Penny Python has an advance engineering degree and is looking for projects after her involvement in the London Olympics. What’s that? It’s time for my medication? Oh no, not the rubber room again….it’s so boring.
ahhhh, happy hour…(4-6 pm cdt – u.s.) Benton a cosmopolitan please and please, accept this check and tell everyone their first two drinks are on me and that I wont take no thank you, for an answer. Now cutie pie, tell me what you have been up to. (that goes for all of you except Bev who has been tickling the fancy of a certain young man…lol…)Oh, Benton, you are such a charmer! You are also absolutely gorgeous. What a guy!
Briatollah is right…I said that I found the pictures of that chicken place, and declined to post them.
Then Red posted "I agree with your sentiments, no picture needed of That. "
Briatollah posted right afterward “No, we don’t want to post a picture of that. Such a thing would be unthinkable in our day.I’m sure if someone posts a picture of that, it will get flagged.”
So you POST THEM???I don’t get it!
We all thought the pictures were gross and offensive…In fact, I’m sure that’s why the place is long gone.and yes, while we must, as Bri said, know such things existed, if only to make sure they never return…the fact is that the pictures themselves are cruel and hurtful reminders, not only to people of color, but to those of us ashamed of that part of America’s past.
And definitely NOT something I care to display to the international community on this website!
My goodness... I agree with Bev.Racist images are NOT “silly things” to anyone affected by them…and that includes young people who could be reading this forum, whether or not we see them!
Dazz, you say “OK OK..” as if you removed the images for ME…I’d rather think you did it for everyone.
Well said, Bev . I agree completely. It’s offensive, not “silly”. DAZZ went beyond shocking. The idea of those types of things having existed is disgusting, and posting pictures of them and calling it “silly” is also….disgusting.
Hello Lovely Ladies and you too pcolli ( if you’re still about ).I have been working ( the curse of the drinking class ! ) so apparently, I’ve missed all the fun an frolic. Tomorrow, being Easter, I don’t have to do anything until 11 am ( EDT ), so I shall be having a few well earned adult beverages at the Tiki tonight. Bev, I don’t think business has fallen off so much as some of our ‘regulars’ have been fighting illness and interruptions in their normal routine. I am sure for many, the weather hasn’t exactly been conducive to revelry and riot. Even our Monkeyblues has, due to business, been absent, as indeed, I have.A Trivia Tuesday might be fun but please… NO Karaoke !
Bev? You still here?I’m sorry that there was a nasty difference of opinion. You and Susan are right though, if the photos posted where what I saw on the site. Whether or not one grows up with something, I’d hope that all humans get the respect they deserve. That is what Easter should represent. New life and hope for all humanity, regardless of skin colour. I’m sure DAZZ just never thought of things that way.

Hi Sik and Bev.The ole Capt. has just the right drink to cure your ills. It’s one my grandfather called an Irish Sling ( others call it a Punch ) and served it to us kids ( in very small amount ) when we had colds.Pour boiling water into a glass containing a shot of whiskey ( I prefer Irish, but it really doesn’t matter as long as its whiskey ) a large dollop of honey ( sugar, if you don’t have any honey ) a squeeze of lemon ( if you have it ) and a couple of whole cloves ( again if you have on hand ). The most import things are the whiskey, hot water and honey/sugar.A couple of those, and then a good night/days rest, and I guarantee you will feel much better.I’m going to have our illustrious bartender fix you right up !
WOW looked I missed some sh!! Don’t know what DAZZ posted, but if it upset everyone here, it must have been something. Cut her “some slack” though. She seems like a nice and gracious lady.
And with that, I hope you all have a wonderful Easter, wonderful Sunday, or Jewish Passover. Rest well Balladeers!

Someone posted some rolls of caps on my FB today (good artsy photo) but I could not find that one online and I have too many I really don’t care about on Flicker. This was all I could find To show just another thing that we took in stride that now is an anacronism.
I picked up on some of Red’s links and am now mixing my “ol’ time Rock and Roll” with my other cardio in the alternate day workout. I still don’t have my BP staying lower all the time but no trouble with any of my moves, and my weight is staying with 24BMI or lower (23 now).

Right- it WAS mercury! I remember how upset one of the chemists in a lab where I did field work being so frightened that I was using an old mercury thermometer. But when we were kids we didn’t know better; we’d roll the mercury around in our hands; I used to use lead canes in some stained glass projects too before I learned the dangers. I worked around so many dangerous chemicals when I was at Zenith (especially the plating labs), but the silly people who make the regulations insisted on safety glasses (never mind that those interfered with the gas mask that was really needed, ant not worn by those who were there all day).
