That darn Nanny State really did a job on our freedom to breath second hand smoke — at restaurants, at bars, at work, on public transportation, pretty much everywhere.-I remember when restrictive laws were starting to go into effect, that the industry that profited from that ‘freedom’ said over and over that all that was needed was a little personal responsibility and consideration and that the Nanny State was destroying our freedom.

I don’t think a law limiting the size of cups is any good, but why on earth does anyone want to defend a cup with hundreds of calories of sugar?Meanwhile the Republican leaders in states with the largest obese populations are passing laws to limit nutritional information.

“Excuse me, I live in Ohio and we are NOT a socialist state. We have a Republican Governor and are doing quite well at this point. Under the last Governor (a Democrat), we had a large deficit. That has been corrected – it always takes a Republican to fix fiscal problems, don’t you know. I still have hope for 2016, that we get a Republican President who can fix the country!”BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, that’s hysterical! and what did bush “fix” economically? right he got rid of the nasty regulations that kept the treasury and the world from getting robbed.and what about “deficits don’t matter” Reagan, who significantly raised taxes.OR “I am not a crook” Nixon, who put in wage and price controls.you were being sarcastic about republicans ‘fixing’ the economy, right?

“Big brother New York City government does do one thing quite well. But nobody has been able to tell me what that thing is because I haven’t been able to see a unicorn with a pink bunny and a fairy standing next to a rainbow.”obviously you and the other liberals posting against NYC have never been here. NYC does so many things so well that we are the economic dynamo for 2/3rds of the country, we have been relatively unscathed to the economic recession brought on by the bush administration. though we are only a small island off the east coast of the USA, we are a magnet to the world. We have outstanding infrastructure and mass transit and anybody or is anybody (person or corporation) needs a presence here.so you can take your preconceived notions about a faceless gotham city, and stay away. It is most certainly your loss.

NYC’s only problem is that it has WAY too many people in it

You know what Goofy? You make jokes about “evil cups of sugar”, then rant about the fact that Medicaid & Medicare cost too much in other posts. Those are the main drivers behind deficits, you know?Mississippi passed a law that will prevent any city there from demanding that restaurants provide nutritional information about what they serve. Like I said, I don’t think we should pass a law on what people can buy & eat, but pretending that being reminded about what we are eating doesn’t affect out choices is just foolish.Do you have a problem with people being informed about their choices?
