He should’ve kissed her and declined on the toys.

When my kids were young like Elizabeth, they used to include their stuffed animals in the nightly routine. It was sweet seeing the world through their eyes, and I enjoyed helping them learn to share love with the “critters” they loved. I’m sure it helped them drop off to sleep happy.

Of course, they also learned that the routine could be used to delay the inevitable lights-out, and if you followed the process to a possible conclusion, dad might well forget what the primary purpose was. Not likely, though.

Thanks to Lynn for the memories and for seeing the humor in our lives, whether the events depicted in her cartoons actually happen or not. That’s what I enjoy about this strip. I feel sorry for so many who only come here to grump about others’ pleasures and steal their joys. I hope in time you will find true happiness in your own life.

Depends on the kisser. My Dad had very dark hair and a strong beard growth, so most of the time he was on the stubbly side. He would give me a kiss and rub my chin with his – not ferociously, but in a way that was particularly “him”.

I’m a grandmother myself now, but I can remember Dad’s stubbly kisses, and I miss them still.

I’m glad that my kids had 2 “lovies” each that were tops to them. So if they asked me to kiss anything other than them, I could limit it to those.

I remember my dad’s stubbly kisses good night. I loved him and he loved me. Who cares about the whisker burn?

(The last 2 sentences of Lynn’s quote:)If it was the dad’s turn to be in the picture, then I gave the spotlight to John. I wanted to show that both parents were equally involved in everything.

. . . unless, of course, it had anything to do with planning, throwing, or cleaning up after a 9-year-old boy’s birthday party since it appeared as though John was MIA the entire time it was going on!!!!! ;-)
