I liked to say that May flowers bring June bugs. I was a weird kid.

Editor63, I love June bugs! If you put about twenty of ‘em in a Bell jar, and put your ear to it it sounds like bacon and eggs frying…….so easy to catch! Right out of the air! They were once called Humbugs. That’s where the phrase ‘Humbug" came from. Nothing but a humbug was a phrase originally meant to assure someone that it wasn’t a bee or a wasp, it eventually came to mean, “nothing of consequence..” Thus, Uncle Scrooge said “Humbug!”….

I’m surprised an old biddy would say such a thing.

Granted the Pilgrims record on human rights wasn’t up to 21st century standards. But in he 15th century whose was? the answer of course: Any group of humans that was not in contact with other humans. We are a territorial animal, the shocking thing is that we have been able to somewhat curb that impulse in the last hundred years or so .

Although it doesn’t rhyme, I figured it was March winds bring April showers, bring May flowers, bring June brides, bring July vacations. That’s as far as I got. Caufields puns are astonishing. Can you imagine BEING his teacher? Even if you weren’t an ol’ biddy, as someone described, Caufield’s questions would flabbergast ANYONE!

Editer63: I looked up June bug in the dictionary once and it said the May beetle. That’s odd, because around here, they appear in April.
