Yeesh.-—————————I like the “Ted Tellum, the friendly feller” line, a flashback to radio and TV host Arthur Godfrey, “the old redhead” who portrayed himself as a model of homespun humor and modesty – when he was really a nasty s.o.b. who fired one singer on the air during a live broadcast.

Either way,he has a real Gouldian look to him

I’m wondering what will happen to Crypto when Tracy catches up with and presumably arrests his master.

The Jumble/Jumbler seems more like a Bill Finger-Batman Villian and Less of a Chester Gould-Dick Tracy Villian

It looks like Ted Tellum is out of rehab and doing TV reporting instead of radio talk shows. I hope that if The Jumbler leaves any dead bodies in a van in his parking space, he’ll inform Tracy of it this time. (grin)

This is probably going to get good, but for now I fill like we’re wasting bullets.

Ted Tellum will likely see’em do a dastardly deed, as Crypto and The Jumbler creep up on Jumble cookies, and (I’ll ween) not just to eat’em….

I called it Tuesday, that he was gonna steal the dough! One thing I love about this forum is watching everyone jumping to conclusions instead of letting things develop. My guess is the “Service Dog” Crypto is going to run through the bakery (Ala A Christmas Story) and in the ensuing confusion, Jumble will unveil his scheme.

As to his being silly, how is he any sillier than the Zoot Suited bank robber— with the Chumba Wumba thing?

I can’t wait till Sue Doku steps in.

The Jumbler has to do more than steal some bake goods. There’s no way stealing some tasty treats would warrant a detective to be on the case.

Agreed that Mr. J’s he’s more of a Sprang-y costumed villain than a Gould-ian grotesque. Take away the quirky outfit, and he’d look like an innocuous plumber (named Mario or Luigi).

If Jumbler’s caper has only to do with cookies, Tracy will need to run him in for his own good, more than to save the citizenry.

RE: Tracy villians seeming to be silly:There were times that a villian would appear rather silly at first, but then get involved in something quite serious.Gargles comes to mind, also T.V. Wiggles and Blow Top.

Maybe Lady Ceredwin and the “Jumbles” have more to do with the plot than first would appear.

(From yesterday) That dog is unmistakably Scotty. I mean, just looka tha bushy eyebrows and funky beard.********************I hesitated on calling Crypto a Scotty because I thought Scotties were black. I have a Westie (West Highland Terrier) that looks just like a Scottie but is white so I thought maybe brown Crypto was another cousin of the Scotty. But I’m certainly no expert on dogs.

A bit off topic, but does anyone know a site for Black and White versions of the dailies? The only one I knew (comicstripnation) seems to be dead.

The oven is shown in all three frames, the colorist didn’t get it right in the second frame if you look close you can see the front scallops.

Ahem! Y’all are falling down on the job. We have seen “Lady Ceredwyn” before, and not too long ago – Mr. Crime’s mom, perhaps?

As I thought about it, another villian who was ridiculous to start with was Tonsils, breaking into night clubs and forcing people to listen to him sing (or his “manager”, Dude, did the forcing) But later Tonsils almost killed Dick Tracy, so you never know.
