It’s amazing, though, the messages one can come up with using only six characters (seven in some states). One of the best I’ve seen was a silver sports car with the plate HIHO AG.

Why do some people with peronalized plates isist on driving like idiots? THOMAS was a real jerk on the road 30 years ago; and his plate only made him easier to remember.

When I bought an SUV a few months ago, I really hoped a Subaru would be the right choice, mostly so I could put the plate M45 on it. Rejected the Subaru because of the dealer, then because I didn’t like the way the thing drove; and M45 turned out not to have been available anyway.
