The reason I love Oliphant 95% of the time, even when I dislike the day’s offering, is that the man will take on anything and anyone. Fairness is not part of his work (see today’s offering), but neither is bowing down to sacred cows. That remaining 5% would be Obama, the one person on the planet regarding whom Oliphant can find nothing to criticize. Hell, even Michelle got a comeuppance, while Obama does things suitable for a political cartoon pretty much every day. I really don’t get why our modern Daumier is so willing to lay down for this very ordinary guy.

The Onion has a particularly apt take on this…

“Resigning Pope No Longer Has Strength To Lead Church Backward”

When will we see the end of this insane, medieval organization? Just seeing these crazy old men walking around in goofy costumes should inform an educated mind that this is not on the up and up. What the hell does perpetual Halloween have to do with righteousness or morality? I just had the experience of purchasing a rental property and living there was a young couple with a baby living in under 300 sqaure feet of living space, and unable to afford even that. They speak no English and on top of that; she’s pregnant. According to the otther tenants the baby cries night and day and it’s just pitiful. I put this kind of horrible existence at the doorstep of the Catholic church who has a vested interest in keeping young people like this ignorant and demands that they keep having children who are born into a life of poverty that they then perpetuate. Despite the fact that they couldn’t pay the rent, I couldn’t kick them out on the street but I helped them to get assistance so they could rent a bigger place, but in the long run, what’s going to happen to these poor, young, ignorant kids? Birth control would help but they are taught that using it will condemn them to hell. What a horrible, cruel power is Catholicism.
