Nope, mockingbird’s are grey. Could be a grackle — they’re very territorial.

oooph! That’s gotta hurt. It could be a grackle or a starling.Starlings often swoop down on cats.

You know, I didn’t have a specific bird in mind. This is one that just starts as a doodle. No rhyme or reason to it, just thought it was a funny bit of physical comedy.

I was thinking grackle too. They are wild birds!

Yes, Brian, it is a funny bit of physical comedy. Many birds, even Robins, swoop down and dive bomb when trying in spring to get berries off a certain tree. Not only kids, dogs, but adults have to duck-down or get swooshhhhhhh-ed.

At least it’s not rotund and sailing in an arc onto their house.

Actually, she is a dog. While dogs can and do hunt, they are oportunists when it comes to food. They operate on the philosophy of, “Why hunt, when there is this lovely week old roadkill right here?”

I just love the way this strip is drawn. Sophie’s furrowed and angry brow says it all. (I even like the kittens.)

Sophie is a borderline apex predat-poomf? Is that a new breed of dog?

Robins, stellar jays and crows will dive bomb. Sophie should guard her tail. A nice bushy tail looks a lot like a squirrels tail and those birds will take no prisoners! …. Just ask anyone with a ponytail during nesting season.
