@Red, I showed Beanie and Cecil in the mural of my kids’ room that I showed a while back (and that was painted around 1964):Beanie on Capt. Hook’s ship with Peter and Tinkerbell far to the right and Pinochio approching the dock with Jimminy Cricket. I tried to keep my kids entertained- painted directly on the wall with tiny cans of alkyd enamal when I put them down for a nap.
I remember that and the comedian who reminded us the desk is MADE OF WOOD AND BURNS LIKE KINDLING!!!!!!Yeah I always thought that was a REALLY good idea when we did it.
My best response was in the Army doing Chemical Biological warfare training. In the scenario the instructor says“You are walking in patrol. A plane flies over. A mist settles about the area. Your fellow soldier next to you grabs his throat, gurgles and dies. WHAT DO YOU DO??”I responded in a very flat plain voice“Kiss your ass good by as you just walked in the same crap he did.”The instructor stood there dumbfounded. Raised an eyebrow and said “Right, but what does the training manual say to do?”I went“Oh yell GAS and put my protective M7 gas mask on.”I added“Then choke and die”He went “Next!” chuckling as we parted.
Who do they ask about this serving business, anyhow?
A few packages list a serving size that’s more than I’d ever eat…But sometimes they say 24 servings on a small bag of something 4 normal-size people could easily share.
I know why they do that one…. it’s so they can put a yellow banner on the package:
Oh right….. and the film I saw in school said when you step outside after the blast, be sure to brush off any dust that falls on you…. with your bare hands!
Reply button does not seem to be working, but Bev and Susan, I remember that Lambchop was with Sherry Lewis (who looked a lot younger than Fran). And . . . even I am probably not the oldest poster on GC!
@Monkey, That brocalli looks to raw for me. I only like raw brocalli or cauliflower if I have a good creamy blue cheese dip. Have not learned to be THAT vegan yet.
I can’t even have any cheese now ;-( After next Valentine’s . . .We’ll SEE! My new Dr is trying to convince me to give up all dairy and gluten, but I hope to lower my BP and THEN prove that anything you LIKE is good, with sufficient moderation.
On the other hand I prefer to just skip all the processed stuff that other folks messed with (good thing I learned to cook for the family in 7th grade from TV shows and books because my mother was a TERRIBLE cook).
She’s doing all right…She’s home, recovering from having her gall bladder removed yesterday.Everything went well, but it still takes a while to get back to normal.
She won’t be posting tonight…. though she’s hoping to feel up to it tomorrow.
I promised I’d save her the back booth at the Tiki, with all the cushions, and some yak broth and banana jello….We can look forward to seeing her there.
Meanwhile she does take a look at your posts when she can…. and she says hello!
Yes, I did promise to make Yakloaf tomorrow, didn’t I?
Don’t worry, I’ll do it……with roast potatoes and onions and carrots…a side of slaw…mmmmm…..Could you please be sure there’s enough ground yak?I’d say 50 pounds oughta do it…..
Thursday nights the little monkeys work…but Bev’s Fireman comes in, so if you’re not there, he can help me put it in the oven after we brown it on the grill.
BTW …I love broccoli…. one of my favorite ways is grated raw and made into cole slaw…
But please… nothing in it but the broccoli, maybe a little grated carrot, some mayo, and good vinegar, preferably balsamic, even if it does look brownish.
NO raisins, pineapple, or other weird things.
Sometimes I make it half cabbage, half broccoli, especially if I’m introducing it to people who haven’t tried it.
Monkeys aren’t too keen on broccoli…but pssst….. don’t tell the Sheriff he’s had my half-broccoli slaw and didn’t notice.I don’t want any thrown at me.Monkeys, you know…
Quick drive by! But I wanted to thank Susan for the update on Stel. When she is missing, for longer than normal, I know something is amiss! THANKS SUSAN! The next drinks and meal at the Tiki is on me ;-) Good night BS’ers! Rest Well!
especially if we have any sentient ones about! (You never know, on Ballard St.)
I love pineapple…. just finished a lovely, sweet fresh one today, in fact.
(It was non-sentient…. honest, pineapple people!)
And I like raisins, and dried cranberries, apples, oranges and sunflower seeds….
But some people think broccoli slaw is some sort of super health food so they add all that sort of thing…which to me is all fine stuff on its own but does not belong in my coleslaw!
I always arrive when I’ve had too long a day to have time to kick back at the Tiki. One day I will have the time for a good plate of Yak ribs to gnaw on while reclining on a Yak rug by the fire.

Gosh Bev… I thought Ballard St was a calorie-free zone.
SusanSunshine Premium Member about 11 years ago
If not, I’ll have to watch it with the banana daiquiris…. sigh…
and the pies….and the yak ribs…..
Surely there are no calories in yak ribs….?
