I had a feeling Mole would flip him like that, after looking at their positions in the last strip (I’ve watched a bit of martial arts anime since the 90s)

Another option would have been to push up and make Sweaty smash his head on the doorframe (Not martial arts, but Mikey school of dirty fighting for short people :P )

I love how Mole’s one line is stretched out through all three panels. Nice, also, how the art conveys the physical actions taking place.

You all know I won’t hesitate to mouth off on those rare occasions when this strip annoys me, but I gotta say in most cases, Staton and Curtis get it right. It’s nice that we can expect so much quality writing and illustration from this team.

Self-defense classes teach that maneuver.Just bend the knees and lean forward. (Mole’s height-weight proportion probably helps.)

My Dad taught me to read on comics like Dick Tracy. I am enjoying this so much. I feel like my Dad is with me, when I am reading this. It reminds me of good times. Thank you for that.

Woo Hoo! Mole! Mole! Mole!Great art – love that look of surprise on Sweatbox’s face in panel two!Great payoff from the set up almost a year ago, when Mole was in the ring with Thunderchild, and asked Jerry King for some training.

Often times when you flip someone like that and then follow through with your body weight on top of them all in the same motion, all of their air comes out rendering them almost helpless. However, the sweat-face does all of that cardiopulmonary exercising he just may not be phased, but that “thud” is a good sign, so we’ll just have to wait and see! BillThompsom, by you remembering my avatar of more than a year ago shows that we have a history. The other day I was so emotional about the child (Toad) being abducted and or abused that I didn’t engage my brain before posting my opinion. Sir! I am so sorry. Where I bank there is a gal (hi Sue) that reads DT I guess daily and she criticized my comment and actions, which embarrassed me. I had it coming. The old man needs to be put in his place once in a while. Thanks BT and again I am so sorry. I’m sure my daughter will read this and she will give me the devil as well.

Re: Your comment on the time line here. What are you talking about? Mole was last seen talking to Pouch, having driven his truck FROM the scene of the abduction, where he had been in the process of calling Toad to supper, TO the park where Pouch is located. Then we can infer that he drove to this scene because of the info that Pouch gave him. That seems to make perfect sense, I think.

There is still a startling difference between Sunday’s art and the daily art. Compare, for example, Mole’s nose in profile. Sunday is angular and choppy, where the lines flow smoothly in the daily art. I wonder why?

I knew yesterday was too good of an omen. SDM had to wake up someday. I can see it now…. “from under a cold flat rock in the middle of the city dump, SDM spies the rotating beacon, with its trademark ‘T’ silouhetted against the grey clouds, meaning Troll Time, and the panning of a marvelous strip was about to commence.”

Otto, I am going to have to put a locking switch on that beacon!

In today’s print edition of Chicago Tribune:They have the same three drawings but the caption and dialogue in panel 1 are different.

In the Trib, the first panel caption reads: “After a frantic search for Mr. Mole, Toad has found him at last.”

Sweatbox is saying: “Toad! This is your fault! Now I’ll make him pay!”

Everything else is the same as the GoComics version.

We’ll ignore that the timeline is impossible. I mean, how can Mole be with Toads mom AND slamming Stinky to the ground at just about the same time?____________________I think we must ignore all of the inconsistencies in this story line because obviously the strip is being highly edited as evidenced by the differences in what Chicago Tribune is presenting compared to the GoComics version (which for all we know may have also been edited by TMS before distribution. I don’t think it is fair to criticize the strip or the creators for anything that is obviously beyond their control.

Good for Mole!! I wonder how many of Tracy’s former foes have been so heroic??

Any one know how many of Tracy’s foes have reformed??Of hand I can think of

    Mole

    Steve the Tramp

    Pear Shape Tone

    Influence

    Little Face Finney

Stooge Villar did seem to have a “death bed” conversion where he asked Tracy to look after his daughter (wonder whatever happened to Binnie Villar??).

Can any one else think of any other Villians who have reformed??

You really have to wonder about the Tribune’s judgement (or lack thereof) in altering the best DT arc since the Staton team took over
