Hey, Alyx! Show due respect to your elders. That should have been “When you close a porn page, Uncle Jeff, check for pop-ups!”

She probably just assumed that when she saw porn popups that didn’t close when Jeff closed IE to get back to his supposed writing.

Remember to check for ALL types of popups.

I generally use Firefox at home (including right now), and IE at work, although we have some new things at work that reportedly require Chrome. They seem to function as well with Firefox, and Chrome hasn’t knocked my socks off. Thus far, the advantages of the cooler browsers have eluded me, but I recognize that I don’t need advanced features to send email, read news, shop for car parts, or write about comic strips late at night when I can’t sleep.

I’m sure Jeff was doing … research … for the book. And only reading the articles.

Just in case anyone missed one of the all-time funniest videos (and shows) from years ago (maybe NSFW): Link The Internet is for Porn. At her age, Alex would be abnormal, perhaps unfortunately, if she wasn’t well acquainted with the stuff.

The popups and rollovers on this site are bad enough. No, I don’t want to play Black Ops or refinance my house.

Actually, for somebody Jeff’s age, it’s more likely to be one of those mindless, brain-devouring flash video games than porn.

If they ever come up with a mindless, brain-devouring, pornographic flash video game, we’re going to lose an entire generation of young men.

I’m a dinosaur who (largely) subsists on AOL, along with most of my elderly friends. The younger generation razzes me, but AOL is loads better in dealing with photos, and it doesn’t get all wonky when you put long items on it.

Pop-ups are still a problem? Consider using Firefox and add on AdBlock Plus as well as the AdBlock Plus pop-up addon. I haven’t seen a pop-up in ages.

The pregnancy arc is not that interesting, but shines when compared to the computer nerd-talk that is following it….

What’s a popup? I honestly had forgotten popups even existed. It’s been years since I’ve seen one. No exaggeration.

In the early 70’s engineers at DARPA had a wish to share porn on their computers. So they met at Xerox PARC, and began tackling the technical problems of designing the internet. Sorry Al Gore, but that’s a true story.

For a few moments just now, I watched as the black-and-white sneaker rhythmically teased the ever-moist bubble gum. One motion, endlessly repeated. No change. No enlargement, no diminishment. Just monotonous, mindless repetition. No slowing down, no tiring out, just up and down, up and down. The gum always adheres to the shoe, then snaps cleanly back on itself. The bottom of the shoe is always unsullied, the white walls always white. So restfully predictable, so peaceful, so soporific, so sleep-indu…….zzzzz
