Much like the “southern” United States where entitlements such as, but not limited to, Social Security disability flourishes despite the overwhelming support of the GOP. More money flows from DC to these states (per capita) than any other state. One of these days very soon they’ll learn you cannot have it both ways.
Just a correction (it’s one I often bring up):Even if Scotland votes for independence from the U.K. in 2014, the U.K. will still be a U.K. England is part of the part of the U.K, it is not the U.K.I’m in agreement with Uncle Joe. It’s foolish pandering to the eurosceptic wing of the Conservatives. The new party, UKIP, has eurosceptism and leaving the EU as its mainstay and it’s gaining more ground. The Tories, within a coalition with Liberal Democrats, are shaky and losing voters to UKIP.A referendum on whether to stay on with a revised treaty, or to leave, was promised for after the elections in ‘15. The Tories would have to win a clear majority and I doubt it’s going to happen. Despite that, there is an ever growing number of British voters who want to leave the EU. They do not know what they are wishing for.Ten years ago I would have acknowledged the eurosceptics but would not have thought there was a chance of the UK leaving the EU (I think I even said as much within a few weeks of my start on this forum a few years back).I now think a Brixit is possible, not quite yet probable. I’m toying with the idea of obtaining British citizenship just in case.
Joe is correct, the U.K. is not in the eurozone. It is not one of the 17 countries that has the euro as its currency.(something strange is happening; I’m not able to post properly)
