Some people shop because they have to….they need food for dinner, or clothes for work…or their shoes wore out.
Some people love to shop. It’s therapy or entertainment, whether they buy anything or not.
Shopping, to Burl and Joy, is even more….Buying things is their main activity, besides eating and watching TV…and one of the things they like about TV is that it shows them more things to eat or buy.
Burl goes to work but his heart isn’t in it…the money will purchase more “stuff”….and he finds “stuff” at work to take home, as well…
So off they go to WalMart or Crust Foods to enjoy their favorite hobby…finding bargains, seeing how much stuff they can squeeze out of his paycheck….
I like shopping at stores like Joanns, BBB target but not for groceries. I’m one to look a lot but not buy. I don’t like shopping for clothes either. I hate shopping with my husband too,he is always complaining about something to everyone(like they really care). It’s not fun. Yea I’ll rather him go by himself,Thankfully I work and he shops weekdays mostly.But that’s ok with me
Cell phones changed the dynamics of shopping. When she wants to hit clothing (or shoe) stores it’s now a drop off and “call me when you’re done….and take your time….there’s a nice little bar down the block”.
We shop together when we can; it’s just another thing we can do together;-) besides, I have a better memory of just what’s in the frig. He also likes to shop for clothes together and especially for books (whether we buy or not).
I hate shopping with my husband because he questions every purchase. “do you need that? Dont we have some already? Its too early (late) in the year to buy those,” etc. I like o shop with my daughter, we can turn a trip to Ross into a 3 hour adventure!
Before my back broke, when I could walk or do anything else I wanted, I used to love to garden. The only kind of shopping I enjoyed was in the garden department or at nurseries.
There should be checkout lanes for men only. Not all, by any means, but the vast majority of women are complete airheads within ten feet of a cash register. Four or five men could check out just in the time it takes them to find their purse. Then another fifteen or so men could check out while she digs out her wallet. Then she has to comment on her purchases with the check out gal and figure out if she is going to write a check or use one of 10,000 credit cards. No, wait! maybe she’ll pay cash, but she needs to count her change first. Oh, sh does not want that item after all, so go back and remove it from her bill. And that’s just for starters, she still has to reload her purse and put her stuff back in the cart. Oooooops, closing time.

GUYs…. Just stay away from grocery and clothing stores…. Best to shop at Menards or Home Depot…..Menards now has guy food and work clothing ! ! !
