It matters not one bit. As long as people are good to eachother, no one has any cause for complaint.

Dennis Miller, before 9/11/2001 scared him into becoming more militant (his words, not mine) had an excellent comment on this issue.“There is so much hate and intolerance in the world that I (miller) will never stand in the way of people who want to live in a loving committed relationship…but bisexuals are just greedy.”I love my gay friends and will stand beside them and attend their weddings should Virginia make it legal. However… barring further information that could make me rethink the issue… I agree with Dennis Miller, bisexuals are just greedy. Respectfully, even to the bisexuals,C.

What jerks we’ve got in the comments this morning. “Who cares” if Mormons can worship as they see fit? Who cares if a Black man can marry a White woman? It turns out that we all should care that all Americans have freedom. Because currently, gay people don’t have the freedom the rest of us have; and our current president is the first president who actually is leading on the issue.

i’m happily straight. over the years, i’ve been to ‘straight’ weddings and a couple of ‘gay’ weddings for happily gay friends. the only difference i saw was in how hard they fought to get to where they are now. i have never figured out why the govt belongs in our bedrooms or in making so-called ‘moral’ dicta for adults who are not imposing their will on anyone. b/t/w, my gay friends seem to stick together much longer than my straights.

besides, there’s less competition for the ones I want to date……

I care. As a straight person, I care a lot about gay rights.

It’s ironic with all Miller’s jokes about marriage etc, he’s (purportedly) happily married for the last 25 years and has two kids.

I have to agree with @4my10851cs. Sometimes I wish I was gay, smoked weed, had a gun or could get an abortion so I could somehow be involved in any of these topics people can’t stop talking about. LOL!

I’ll believe that corporations are people when Virginia passes a constitutional amendment to prohibit corporations from getting married.

Marriage was around before the Bible, yet throughout history in every culture, marriage has been primarily about “CREATING” a family. Gays can adopt but every single one of their “children” comes from a heterosexual relationship. Marraige is the state’s way of blessing and endorsing the ONLY relationship that has the potential for continuing the human race. Marriage is a contract, not a right, and as such can be regulated by the states. Gays have had the same freedoms as straights ever since this nation was founded. There is NOTHING in the Constitution that prevents gays from voting, owning property, having a job, or pursuing their happiness in a free way. They can even marry someone of the opposite sex. And yet many gays want to portray their fight for marriage in terms of civil rights. The issue of Interracial marriage was about race, not gender; couples in interracial marriages were still opposite-sex pairings. Just because many people were wrong on the interracial issue doesn’t mean that every definition of marriage – new or old – is worthy of “equality.” I am against polygamous marriages for the very same reason. Only one woman and one man can create new life. Nature has made it that way. Marriage rightfully recognizes that fact. African-Americans and women understand what civil rights are far better than the gay community does. The Bible’s prohibitions of homosexuality are merely pointing out the obvious natural arguments: only opposite-sex couples have the potential to CREATE new life, raise that new life within the diversity of a family led by an opposite-sex couple, and thereby carry on the species.

@orthodox catholic well aren’t you holier than all of us. gays are pedophiles, gays are into bestiality, gays are responsible for the downfall of society and now having failed at all of those arguments, you put forth:gays are thieves. you should be ashamed to call yourself a catholic.

“You can call it “marriage” until the sun goes down, but that does not make it so anymore than calling a dog a cat makes it a cat.”You can call yourself a Christian until the cows come home, but I’ve yet to see you express an opinion based on the teachings of Christ.

not sure how gays in love threatens straight marriage, unless those against it fear their own gayness…
