Just pick a location you can drive to in a day or two. Then use the money saved from not buying those extortion tickets from an airline to upgrade your hotel. Not only do you get your vacation in a nice place, but getting there and back could be an adventure too.

Remedial math class? This seems more advanced than remedial. I think things have gotten better since this comic was first published. The prices on the airlines’ websites are usually just as good as the ones on other websites, and I’d rather have the certainty of knowing that my planned trip will happen. I know of some who will get a last minute, deeply discounted airline ticket, and it doesn’t matter where it is, just that the airline ticket was cheap. Sounds sort of fun, but not my style.

Hello Cathy friends! Happy Wednesday! Have a great day, all!

Assuming the same number of checked bags for both airlines, the lower fare always ends up costing more than the higher fare. Seems pretty realistic to me.

Love how buying a bag of pretzels is as much a priority as the luggage!

I live in a beautiful enough setting to consider it a vacation!

If you have to do this, you can’t afford the trip. Is it really that big a deal to spend a little more or less and just get what you want? My serenity is worth more than saving $20 or $50 or maybe even $100. When I was pinching pennies, I didn’t travel.

My neighbours (3 families) all drive to Florida from here. For normal people that is a 3 day drive however they have done it with team driving in 2 days. But then they are staying there for 2 to 4 months over the winter. No way I can spend 3 days driving each way for a week’s vacation. Flying is the only option so just include that cost in our plans. I could save money by not taking a direct flight from Toronto to Orlando but that just increases the travel time – often by up to 12 hours. I could also save a lot if I drove from here to a border city like Buffalo but that is a one day drive. Everyone has their own priorties – mine are to spend less time travelling and more time at our destination. Yes, there are things to see along the way but not really if you take the interstate highways. Taking the back roads were it is more scenic would be great but that adds a lot of time. That would be great if that was the vacation – touring the small towns and villages. Maybe someday before I get too old to drive so far I might do that.

Midweek again so soon??? Please enjoy your day.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
