Talk about seeing into the future! I don’t know that I had ever seen another strip showing medical masks for the general populace in six decades.

What was going on in late 2009 that could have inspired this? Or did they maybe change the last panel?

Penicillin shots available in the health room. (It was a reeeally Happy new year for some of us.)

I think Guisewite should have up-dated this one to say 2021.

I worked in a school district. We had to take TB tests, and then vaccinations(?) against hepatitis.Apropos to all this: Way back when, my local newspaper dropped Cathy because, the editor claimed, ‘This strip is no longer relevant’(!!). Which is why I began reading comics online. Unfortunately, this editor is no longer around to appreciate the irony of his statement.

The more things change, the more they stay the same! I get the feeling that we, meaning humans, will have to give up some of the freedom we have to travel anywhere at anytime. Not sure just how that would work out in the end but this past year has shown us how dangerous it can be – and how stupid so many people can be when faced with a pandemic. On the plus side, our ability to create vaccines in improving as our knowledge of what goes on inside our bodies increases. A huge thank you to our medical researchers!
