A yard sale isn’t a terrible idea for all of them. They all have to much stuff.

I used to think there was a difference between a yard sale and a garage sale. I assumed the yard sale was for furniture, house stuff and clothes and the garage sale was for cars, lawnmowers and tools. Silly me.

Selling your own stuff is one thing. Grabbing someone else’s stuff is waaaay off limits! But it is funny and fits MIL’s type here, perfectly. But don’t try it at your own sale.

I have never had any desire to have a yard/garage sale. I’ve been to a handful of them, and most of the people who were there (not all) were petty and rude. They would try to get something for a dime if it was for sale for 50 cents, and they were not nice about it. I have also heard stories about people trying to get in your house or if they went in to “use the bathroom”, they would steal things. I’d rather just give my stuff away.

Hello Cathy friends! Happy Wednesday! Have a great day, all!

We have had two yard/garage sales in our life – the first when we moved from KIrkland Lake to the Belleville area. Sold a lot of stuff we did not have to move. The second was actually at my father’s house after he died. We made enough from the sale of his stuff that we were able to purchase a bench in his memory along the boardwalk. The customers at that sale were a lot less likely to bargain down when we told them what the proceeds were for. Still disliked the whole idea. Fortunately my wife handled most of the small stuff. After it was over we called in the Salvation Army and they took everything that was left. Worked out well.

Another wet day here but the trees and grass are sure green. The last of the ash trees finally showed green two days ago so spring is definitely here – just in time for summer. Have a dry, happy day!

While I’ve helped my mother on occasion with some of her yard sales, I’ve never actually had one myself because I basically can’t stand them. All the time spent gathering everything together, pricing it, money spent advertising the sale, setting the whole thing up, the day (or weekend) spent having it, taking it all back down again when it’s over with, and then having to decide what to do with everything left over that didn’t sell: either store it somewhere for another sale again sometime in the future or donate it and just be done with it already? Such a hassle! And, as lightenup said, you put 50¢ on something and they want you to take 10¢ for it instead. So tacky! Better to just donate what you don’t want to charity. That way, they can sell it in order to raise funds for their cause and you don’t have to worry about having to deal with it being in your way anymore. A real win-win in my book! :-)

P.S.: Does anyone know why all the Cathy comics have suddenly switched from color to black and white ….. even the ones that I know for a FACT were in color just last week? Now I have to look at the same comic in two different places: Arcamax (to see it in color) and here for all the comments. Talk about something that’s a real hassle! :-/

Never had a yard sale. Bought at many. If I have extra stuff, I give it away. I love to sort through my things for local Chinese Auctions that are being held for fund raisers.

This family will become close, all right … likely in the nut-job house. Seriously—I like ’em all, but pretty amazing how they can show their Whack-a-doodly-ness every day. (Hey—is that a word? If not, it is now! Ha.)

    HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.

I too was wondering why the change to black and white…even the strips that were in color last week. Nuts. As for that MIL…I would skip the sale and pay somebody to take her away.
