Yup. At least one degree of separation is required to properly interpret a mother’s comments. Fortunately everyone in the clan has enough degrees of separation that we always understand each others comments. Well, almost always. If there are any comments to understand . . .

Happy Friday eve to everyone in the Cathy Clan – even those who are not here (which at the moment is everyone but me).

I would LOVE It if my mom said those words to me, and I’d definitely take them the way they were meant. I also think tone helps, which we can’t hear, but I think the hearts emanating from Cathy’s mom’s head say it all.

Hello Cathy friends! HI HENDELCA! Yes, it has been sparse lately, but I know rgcviper and lindz.coop will be around eventually. I hope GretchensMom is doing well! How are your renovations going, Sis? I hope QuietStorm is doing well too, but I"m guessing she’s super busy with her job and family. We have less than a week left of school and we’re all worn out but trying to keep going. Have a nice night, everyone!

I could spend time trying to think of a fitting response to this one, but c’mon—going with a simple [eye-roll] does the job. Am I right?

    HI, MOM. Hello, “Cathy” Clan.

I don’t think I would have had THAT reaction if my Mom said something like that to me…I might have silently dismissed as her somewhat biased opinion of me, but I would certainly have thanked her and given her a hug. Cathy is way off base here.
