You’ve finally figured part of it out, Cathy. The other part of parental payback is called “grandchildren” (trust me on this — the parental curse of “I hope you have one just like you!” is the worst curse of all — and it ALWAYS comes true!).

As for me, I never married or had children, but I’m pretty sure that I know what I’d have gotten: a bunch of smart-mouthed, insufferable know-it-alls. So children, remember — one day your parents WILL get even — and they’ll just sit back and laugh when it happens!

    Revenge is sweet.

It could also traumatize whoever you’re calling, but still.

    HI, MOM. Happy Sunday, Clan

@Susan – I hope so too. Talking on the phone while driving is allowed here (texting is not), and I wish it were banned. People are terrible drivers while they’re on the phone. :-(Fortunately, I have 2 children who are better than I ever was. Jr is a sweet girl who is kind and wants to please, and while Lil is sassy, she is a good kid who makes me laugh. I am a fortunate mom. :-)I’m back and we survived Jr’s birthday party! Everyone had a great time and hopefully some memories were made. Life is good.Have a great Sunday, Cathy clan!

I wish NOBODY would talk, text or do anything else at the same time wheile they’re driving. Everyone always THINKS they’re a great multi-tasker but really, they’re not. Personally, I live in fear for my life every single time I go out, worried that someone’s going to be more interested in what they’re doing WHILE they’re driving instead of the actual driving itself and kill me in the process. My husband always tells me to be careful while I’m out. I always tell him that it’s not MY driving I’m worried about; it’s everyone else’s that’s the problem!

As for me, I NEVER talk and drive . . . it’s just too distracting. I have enough problems as it is doing only ONE thing half-way decently well at a time. Trying to do MORE than one thing at the same time never works well in my favor because my skills at multi-tasking leave a lot to be desired, that’s for sure!!!!! ;-)

The only only exception I make to my “never talk and drive” rule is if my husband calls while I’m out by myself, but that’s a very rare thing. I always tell him which stores I have to run errands at and if Wal-Mart is on the list, well . . . he knows he isn’t going to see me for a VERY long time!!!!! But sometimes he will call if it gets to be too late and he hasn’t heard from me, letting him know how much longer I’m going to be. So protective. After almost 25 years together, it’s nice to know he still worries about me!!!!! ;-)

    Hi, rgcviper!

lightenup: Glad to hear Jr.’s party went well and that she had a great time!!!

I had a boss who thought I should dictate my (Social Worker) notes while I drove between client homes. Never did it.
