Without Flask there to give these kinds of psycho orders, who the heck is driving this clown car of cop over-reaction?

I’m a little confused. Since everything in Endtown belongs to the collective whole, just who do they think they are hurting by busting up what is essentially public property? Materials to repair the place for use by the next occupant aren’t exactly lying around in heaps….

Well, Holly and Wally were in the group that brought Linda into Endtown. By appearing out of thin air. Now, Holly turned up at the “crime scene”. I also wonder who’s running these rats. Hopefully Jackrabbit’s not involved.

Took me 1/2 hour to get on line here again. There is this damn yellow paste it ad which keeps crawling and my computer cut down and said file system 0n C. Type is NTFS. Is this something that anyone else across with this ad???Anyway, The best bet here is for Wally to hide. And work underground, no pun intended, to determine what is going on. There are too many people who will want to throw their 25cents in, rather there is any evidence or even if they have an opinion or not. Just like all the people that are selected to talk about it on the television. You know the ones. I do not have to get predu juice.OK gentlepersons, I have commented.Blessed Be

Depends. If you’re only 17 now, it’s not so appealing. Other than that, though, go for it! You can always change back if you don’t care for it.

How is the cartoonist doing? I used make a comic but I always made sure I had a miserable full time job with health insurance. Why wouldn’t he do the same thing? You can’t support yourself working freelance, much less have a wife and kids.

As I read this strip I heard Art Carney as Ed Norton for the tall guy with the hat, I wonder if Aaron hears and personally associates specific voices for the personality he provides his characters.

Remember when the Rat told Holly she should be careful of the Company she keeps.I believe a coup has happened. Prof Mallard and the old council may no longer be in charge. The hardest thing to do is keep a secret. It happened with Flask about the missile. I think info about the Flask adventures and everything else has been leaked. This would undermine the ones in control now. Someone has seized power. The cake was simply the catalysis. Like the KrystalNacht. A small insignificant thing to get a revolution started.Wally is next on the list. You can probably hide a while in Endtown but eventually you will get caught. Wally needs some time to gather intel before getting picked up. He will get picked up as they will use Holly and Linda as bait to bring him in.Just swinging a bat at armed rats is not a good idea. Endtown (our favorite place) is under attack. Not from the Topsiders but worse. From within.

How many rats are in there? That is a big heavy couch and it was tossed out the window. That was either a well organized toss or something else is in there much stronger and bigger than rats.

I don’t apologize for the rats behavior they are acting on orders and just using strong tactics to discourage resistance. As far as Valerie she probably reported it but she is not behind the actions. The question is what would Jackrabbit gain by a revolution and overthrow of current leaders in Endtown? I think he is more talk than action he proved that hiding in a trash can when Flask took on the Topsiders in Al and Gustine Vol2. This speaks of something more sinister going deep into Endtown roots. Jackrabbit may have been encouraged to create discontent so that things can work under the covers. I can see the shooting of the doors locks to get in but what I find curious is the Couch being tossed thru the window. That does not make sense. They are in why toss it out? Trashing the place just to trash it or searching for hiding places but move the couch. Tossing it out means something very serious not funny. I think it is going to be something we have not seen before. The power brokers behind the power so to say.

Oh and remember this is Holly’s house not Wally’s. He had no property when he arrived in Endtown. Holly and him cohabitate. Holly is drawn in as she is the one who got Linda the job so she is guilty by association. Hmmmmmmm?I can see Wally all POOF tail running in there to kick butt. But someone or something tossed a very big couch out a window and there are guns so caution should be guide.

DADOF3 said earlier about everything in Endtown belonging to the collective whole. No it does not. This is proof of that. This could help the collective whole but you see the reaction.A small group actually controls Endtown. It is a myth that as a commune a society can exist especially in wartime conditions. It will not work. It would require something most folks wont or will not share. Cooperation and equality. It is human nature to try to be well off or better than someone else. There are those hopeful few that it will work like Holly and Wally but now an education of sorts is going to occur which I hope our favorite characters can survive.

Art Carney played Ed Norton on the Honeymooners.

When I saw the picture with the sofa flying through the window, my immediate thought was how could Holly pick up and throw a couch.

A lot of those old programs like that are now on DVD mainly. The Honeymooners took a lot of heat because of the suggestion of spousal violence inferred. Remember “One of these days, one of these days, AliceRight in the Kisser.”We all laughed but how much was really going on behind the laughter. But like anything else it was the times and a different world. My dad remembered Art Carney and Jackie Gleason doing vaudeville back in the day. Where a lot of the early ones got the starts.

“To the Moon, Alice!” #Y’know, I know all this stuff about “The Honeymooners,” and I didn’t even like the show. But I’m of an older generation, and I couldn’t tell you who’s been who on “American Idol.”

Rats have thrived so well because they are intelligent and the adapt well and quickly. If they lost their jobs as cops, they could become used car salesmen, run carnival rides or they could be great dentists. Rodentists!

I did some research and there seems to be two branches of security in Endtown with different uniforms. The "normal police wear what might be considered standard outfits with traditional badges and hats. I reference 6/27/2011 and 7/12/2011 panels. The rats are in what appear to be fatigues and evidently are a higher level of security, more like an army unit. What I don’t understand is why a local issue, even if it’s serious would bring these guys out of the woodwork. I don’t see it being in their jurisdiction until after the regular police were involved. That could be unless there was some kind of change of political situation that replaced the regular police with the security units. The presence of the police paddy wagon would have been commandeered by the security rats to fulfill their needs at searching the house to collect whatever they were looking for.The couch flying out of the window I think is some of Aaron’s humor in identifying the outlandish nature of the rats in their “enthusiasm” to do their jobs. It would be somewhat like cartoon characterization of the keystone Kops when they would apprehend a bad guy and throw him in the paddy wagon and they would be beating on him while the wagon drives off. Slapstick humor until you stop and think about what’s really going on.

So, is the rabbit(?or whatever) standing in the street in the second panel a supervisor, or just someone walking by? Anyone got a feel for that? I doubt that critter is there just because Neathery decided to fill in that corner of the panel.

“I don’t see it being in their jurisdiction until after the regular police were involved. The presence of the police paddy wagon would have been commandeered by the security rats to fulfill their needs at searching the house to collect whatever they were looking for.”You raise a good point. Generally, the rats are tasked with maintaining the security of the community as a whole. We have seen regular police before, so there did appear to be a separation of powers in the past. Suddenly now, the security guys are driving a paddywagon. This raises two possibilities: 1) That Linda’s status as “a former Topsider” showed up in a background search (or “status: Classified”, which could be worse) and caused her arrest to be escalated. 2) Marx’s teleportation into the colony has put the authorities on Homeland Security Code: Red.If there was a bigger shake-up in the political situation in the colony, it would have been foreshadowed in the newspapers, and either Wally or Holly would be expecting it. I think it’s more of something having to do with Linda directly, above and beyond just the ingredients used in the cake.
